What the What?!

Monday, August 4, 2014

Happy Monday everyone (is there such a thing?!).  It's Brenshevia here with another layout created with some of the fabulous items you can find right here in our store.  Last year I finally had all my kids and grandkids home at one time so you know I had to take advantage of it!  This is the first of I am sure many layouts featuring those wonderful faces.

We took holiday photos as a family and even though The Paislee Switchboard Collection is not a holiday collection per se, it was perfect for these photos don't you think? I also used some vellum that's literally been hanging around my scrap area for YEARS so I decided to take it out and put it to use to create a small pocket as my mat. I then splattered my page with ink (that's the fun part) and here is what I ended up with.  I like it well enough.....lol.

Well that's all for now folks,  thanks for stopping by.  Make sure you stop by our store to pick up your collection of Switchboard.

Until next time, Smooches!

Timeless Moments with Jeaunes!

Friday, July 11, 2014

Hi there ladies, today I want to share a layout with you using the Swithboard collection from Pink Paislee.

I had so much fun creating this layout!!!!!!!!!  And of all the layouts I made recently, this one is my favourite!  When I saw this paper range, I immediately fell in love with it, and I knew I wanted to create a fun layout!  So I printed some pictures with our little one playing with a phone.  But in the end, I decided against using those pictures and rather using some of my all time favourite pictures that were taken of my and Jonathan - the colours in the pictures were a perfect match for the collection.

My inspiration for the layout came from a class taught by a dear friend of my, Jowilna Nolte, where she used a lot of small blocks.  So opted for the bigger blocks, and a patchwork feel to the layout.

Products Used
Pink Paislee Switchboard Call Me patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Rotary Phone patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Dial Up patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Hey There patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Address Book patterned paper
Pink Paislee Switchboard Chipboard Sticker Set
White and black cardstock
Chipboard title
Tim Holtz distress paint
Thread and buttons

Here are some close-ups of the detail and embellishments.

I used a chipboard title which I painted using Tim Holtz' distress paint, and once I adhered all the blocks, I hand stitched each one individually (which took some time.....).

Not only were there paper in this collection stunning, but there was also gorgeous chipboard stickers.  I included these on the layout, along with some buttons I had in my stash.

So there you have it, my layout using the Pink Paislee Switchboard collection!  All of these products are available in the store!  So head on over and fill up those baskets :-)

"Love Is…" Mini-Series Part 3!

Thursday, February 27, 2014

Hello again my crafty friends!!!  I hope you've had a wonderful month of "love" filled with tons of inspiration from our very talented Design Team here at Frosted Designs!!!! I cannot express how excited I am to be part of such a wonderful (and AMAZING!) team!!!

As promised, I am here today to share the last part of my "Love is..." project!!! If you missed one or some of the previous posts, don't worry!!!  I'll be sure to share it all with you today :-)

Earlier in the month, Channa hosted an amazing challenge called "Love is...".  The challenge was was to create something showing what love means to you, and use the following color combo:

Isn't it gorgeous?!?  Well I loved the challenge so much that I created several projects to showcase the colors, and what love means to me :-)

Here's a look back at the two previous projects:
First a card...

And my "hidden" pocket with a tag that quotes:
"Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own"
Robert Heinlein

Then an altered Altoid can with mini photo book:

And my last project?!?  Well I had to have something to put all this wonderfull-ness in... right?!?
So I created an altered box using the same papers and embellies from before.
Here's a look:

I had so much fun playing with these papers and colors!!!  I used a box about 6x6 in size so the papers were perfect!!!
I started by coating my box with a thin layer of gesso, mixed with Lindy's Stamp Gand magicals in Cotton Candy Pink.  These pigment powder paints are fabulous for adding color to your medium, or even water!! After using mod-podge (matte) to layer on the paper, I got to work embellishing!
I started by using the heart stencil in the January kit and molding paste mixed with the same Magicals and Rock Candy distress glitter to create the design around the box.  I used some washi tape to cover half of the heart, and just used the other half, flipping it every other time.  I did this around the top of the lid and the bottom of the box as well.
Here's a close-up of the molding paste with the color and glitter:

After the design dried, I added various flowers from Kaisercraft, Prima, and others from my stash to the top of the box.  I misted some with LSG and Dylusions sprays to get my desired colors.
I also made my own bling using liquid pearls, acetate, and a template and tucked it beneath one of the flower clusters.

I used other trim coated with LSG Cotton Candy Pink to wrap around the entire box lid.

I finished it with the sheer pink ribbon from the January kit and created a bow.  I adhered it to the front of the box, adding a small rhinestone flower to the center.

I hope you have enjoyed my little "mini-series"!!!!

Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)
