Altered Frame with this Month's "Out of the Blue" Kit!!!!

Hello again crafters!!!  It's Brandi popping in with an altered frame using this month's beautiful kit!

Here's a look at the frame:

As most of you know, my mother passed away last month which has been the cause for my absence over the past few weeks.  I've decided to make some tribute frames for members of our family so I'm sure you'll be seeing her quite a bit in the upcoming months ;-)

I started by covering the frame with one of the beautiful papers from the kits after I painted the simple wooden frame white (Picked up the frame for $1.00 at my local craft store).  I added in my photo, covering it using the silver doily overlay from the add on kit!


I added flowers and embellies from the kit in adjacent corners to add some pizzazz!


I used some of the Ranger blue mist from a previous kit to dye my trim from this kit blue, then added it across the bottom for contrast against the white background!


I finished with a number of the wooden embellishments that were inked using distress ink, then I added a bit of the crackle accents from the kit for added shine!

Make Your Pages "Pop"! ~ Tutorial with Brandi :-)

Hello everyone!!  It's Brandi here today to share a quick tutorial with you on how to really make your pages stand out!  It works really well on this month's kit with the soft pinks and light hues of the papers and embellies :-)

Here's another look at this month's "Sweet Love" kit:


Yum, yum, yum!!!!  In love with this one!!!

See how everything just "pops" against the background?!?  Doesn't it look fabulous?!?  Want to know my trick?!?  A sharpie marker!  Yep, it's really that simple!  No mess, no fuss :-)

I LOVE the zipper pulls in this month's kit!  They truly add a touch of elegance to every page!


I even use the sharpie to outline my stickers and die-cuts!  


Using a butterfly punch and papers from the kit, I created 3D butterflies :-)

I used stickers from this month's kit and goodies from past month's kit to create my large flowers cluster under the photo!

Double Page Layout with Connie and Mr Fox!

Hi Everyone! Connie here and it is my turn on the blog.   I decided to do a 2 pager this month.  I was looking at my pictures and found some treasures. This was our last day at our Camp in 2013. I thought the Kaisercraft Mr Fox  collection was a perfect fit.

I love flowers and lace and I am not afraid to use them on a boys LO.  I may say I am making these pages for my kids but they are for me first. lol

Left page
The prints are busy but I added molding paste and a stencil. I lightly brushed them with ink to be able to see more of the pattern.

Right page
The flower clusters were added on both pages. They mirror each other.

Back to School with Solange!

Hello, Solange here!
Today is the first day of school in France, and I thought it would be a good idea to make a new set for my desk, because I use so many notebooks!

Here, the weather is still nice, but you can already feel some changes... Fall is not that far! And I wanted a color palette with this feeling, between summer anf fall.
When I found this collection by Basic Grey, I was very happy, and I knew that I wanted to highlight the subtle touches of purple... So I decided to use some hearts stamps by Elle's Studio with purple ink.


Embellishing these notebooks was really easy, because I simply stuck patterned paper on it, without bothering about the binder: I added some ribbon along it and that's all!

I also made a sticky notes holder:


To create an harmony between all the elements, I used the same yellow twine, the same heart stamp and the same folded music heart.


I embellished the bigger notebook with an alphabet cut from my favorite patterns of the collection, and I outlined each letter (with a black pen first, then with a white pen).


This folded music heart is really easy to make: first I stamped a music pattern on thin white paper (using a KaiserCraft stamp). Then I cut 3 hearts. Finally, I layered them and I stitched them on the middle.

 
You could also use a text stamp, cut butterflies... The sky the limit!

Generations with Connie!

Hi! My Name is Connie Hall and this is my first solo post for Frosted Designs. Let me introduce myself.  I  am mother to 7 children.  6 children I gave birth to and 1 chose me as his mom. I am raising my Family here in Akwesasne with my husband Robert.  We celebrate 25 years of marriage this September and we will finally get our Honeymoon in Hawaii. 
I am a Childcare Supervisor during the day. (I work to get a break and to pay for my scrapbook lifestyle.) I love to take pictures of my family. I preserve those memories in a variety of styles. I create Project life, Traditional, 3D,  Shabby chic, 
Mixed media. I love flowers, lace, and texture. 
I am super excited to be here and ready to share my creations with my new Frosted Design family.

Did I mention I also love layers? Well I do and here is an example.  I used the 7 Dots Illumination Kit. It was very fitting for this salvaged photo. This is my Father's Family. They were having a family picnic and my Dad is the one taking the picture.

Mr. Fox Fun!

Hope everyone is having a fun summer (or whatever season it is in your neck of the woods)....
I know here in sunny Phoenix Arizona, we are having multiple days over 110 degrees and it's consistently over 100 degrees  - yes even at 9pm at night, it is sometimes still over 100 degrees!!

So, I find myself playing a lot in my air-conditioned scraproom...at least the heat outdoors is a great excuse to stay inside and play, right?

So today I wanted to share a couple layouts that I created using the new KaiserCraft Mister Fox Collection and Die-Cuts that recently arrived in the Frosted Designs store.

Orange is one of my favorite colors to scrap with my son, so this collection is right up my alley!!

First, I used some random papers and an old piece of a transparency from my stash that was in my "scrap bin".  I personally think the viewfinder fad is a little strange (even though I do still have my old viewfinder), but I love circle elements, so I love how that circular die-cut looks here.

Another note, there is one sheet of dark orange in this collection that has a floral-y print to it...(not what I would use on my "boy" pages) --- so notice on this first layout, I used it as a thin mat behind the photo and the pattern is not noticeable, only the color.



On this second layout, I again used the orange floral paper, just a thin strip down the center, again for color, but making the pattern unnoticeable.  I used large blocks of 2 of my favorite papers in the collection for each half of the design, and again used viewfinder circular die-cuts and an "Amazing" die-cut (popped-up) for my title element and a couple stickers to finish it off.


On this one, I used a background pattern and added some vertical stripes to accentuate the stripes on the hamburger boxes using paint and the Heidi Swapp Stencil from the "pattern" set.  A few of the die-cuts and stickers to document Sliders...an Ohio tradition.  


 On this last one, I used a full sheet from the collection for my background along with some smaller prints behind the photo.  I  mixed Modeling paste with some Lindy's Magicals and used a large stencil that's design supported my theme. 
A few stickers and die-cuts from the collection along with some jute from my stash to finish off this simple layout.
