Katie is Taking the Scenic Route!

Saturday, June 14, 2014

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you are enjoying your summer thus far. I know I have really enjoyed the warmer weather and I am trying to get outside as much as possible! Here in the Pacific Northwest we have to grab the sunshine while we can!

My layout today is using the Carte Bella Wildflower collection that is ON SALE right now in the Frosted Designs store. I have used just about every last scrap of this collection and I keep coming back to it! You can get the ENTIRE collection including 12 12x12 double sided papers and matching cardstock sticker sheet for only $11.24!!!! This is a steal, especially considering that the quality of this paper is super thick and it can take alot of ink! As you will see in my layout today.

I started with some light gold cardstock as my base and then started building my layers. I actually used some packaging from some Prima stuff to be the base layer. Over that I put several of the different patterned papers, distressed them first, then added the sentiment block which I also distressed and inked. After those were laid down I went over with my Lindy's Stamp gang starburst spray in Tiffanylou Blu using a mask, I used both sides and smudged with my finger to make sure I didn't waste any ink. I went over that a second time with the same mask in a few spots using the Dylusions Spray in white linen. My all time favorite!! It really makes the sparkle of the Lindys stand out because it's such a contrast.

I laid down my pictures, some fussy cut elements from more of the paper, wood veneers, and had fun embellishing.

It was alot of fun putting this together and I highly suggest buying this collection before it sells out! It's such a great deal and is perfect for those outdoor photos!! I hope you enjoyed my layout today! Stay tuned for more awesome inspiration from our team tomorrow!!!

Mixing it up with Katie!

Tuesday, May 27, 2014

Only two more days….

______________________________________________________________________________

Hello everyone!! I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend & are looking forward to summer! I know I am!!! I'm here today to share a fun layout I did using lots of goodies you can find in the Frosted Designs store! If you know me at all, you know I like to mix and match collections, and that is what I did today!!
I used pieces from Basic Grey, Carte Bella, and Bo Bunny to come up with this  layout! Here are some pictures:

Here are a few close ups:

I used the creme brûlée dauber from my Lindy's stamp gang try me set to pearlize my background for the 'night sky' .

For the title & other elements on my page I used stickers from the Bo Bunny Zip-a- Dee-doodle combo sticker sheet. I also anchored some of the elements to my page with some Trendy Tape in black chevron & the steampunk gold one. I love how they look together!

I colored the Um Wow layered clouds with a combo of Faber Castel Gelatp in gold & some more creme brûlée. The tiny stars are wood veneer by Studio Calico, also colored with gelato & a wet brush. I love how it turned out against the pink!

I hope you have enjoyed this whimsical layout. Here is the list of products I used that can be found in the Frosted Designs store. Happy shopping!!

Kickin Back With Katie

Tuesday, April 29, 2014

Hi everyone! It's Katie here today I am happy to be on the blog sharing a fun layout I did using some of the awesome products from the Frosted Designs store. I don't know about you, but it has been a super hectic month for me and I was so, so happy to be able to finally get some scrappy time in my new bigger studio space! The best part is I finally got everything put away and organized how I want.. now all I have to do is create!

So on with the photos of my layout. I used a darker background paper to really make my bright, sunny yellow elements pop off my page. This paper is from the Basic Grey Fresh Cut line, as well as a few pieces of the PB&J line from BG. I also had fun spritzing and misting my background to add to the depth using the Lindy's Stamp Gang Starburst mist in TiffanyLou blue, the Dylusions spray in White Linen, and another mist in yellow. I carefully dried each layer before adding more so you could see each color, then laid down my papers.

After I had the main components down, I added my title and embellishments. I then went back to doodle a bit starting with the 'tail' of my balloon which is a brad, as well as some swirlys and dots using the Signo Gelly Roll pen in white. I also used some Prima Vintage Sugar Dots, and an Um Wow Flair button.

For some fun around the corners of my photo mats, I used some Faber Castel Gelatos in yellow and grey, then smudged a bit with my finger. I haven't used them this way before, but I really like how saturated the color is and I am happy how it came out. I didn't use water or anything at all on the edges but it took alot of the color after I distressed the paper's edges.

This layout really came together pretty quickly, and now that I'm settled in my new place I can't wait to keep creating! You can find most of the items I used in the Frosted Designs store, happy creating!!!

Friday Challenge - Spring Has Sprung!

Friday, April 25, 2014

TGIF everyone!  Lisa here with you today.  It seems as if Spring has finally sprung in most places (FINALLY!) and today my challenge for you is a Springtime challenge, perfect for getting a jump start on last weekends Easter photos or any other crafty project. It's guaranteed to put you in a Springtime mood! Think bright colors, blooming plants, warm weather, Spring showers, baby animals ...and maybe even a little Spring cleaning!

My challenge for you is to incorporate at least three of the following words in some way shape or form into your project:

For example:  You could use the word Spring in your title, add some flowers to your project and use a green patterned paper on your project.  You can use the form of a word as well i.e. instead of eggs you can use egg or instead of plant you can use plants or planted.  You may use more then 3 of the words if you wish  but make sure and tell us what 3 (or more) words you used on your Spring project!!!!

Here is my example:
I used the words "egg" and "hunt" in my title, I used yellow patterned paper, I used cloud stickers and also used a flower sticker as well!  It's fun to see how many words you can use on one project!
