Tag Inspiration with Shanna!

Monday, November 17, 2014

Hey everyone. Shanna here and I am excited to share with you some new tags I created.
Who loves just playing around with stuff on your desk????

I do. So here is what I created.

Both tags got some Tim Holtz rub ons, then some Distress Ink, and then I used the stencil to add some fun to my tags.

Both tags got a different sentiment which is also a rub on. I also finished them off with some thread, flowers, and ribbon.

Turning Trash to Treasure with Joni!

Friday, October 3, 2014

Hi everyone...Joni here today sharing a fun colorful layout that I did after I found myself sitting at my scrapbook table frustrated with my son for leaving his "trash" on my table.

I wanted to share how I created the really cool circular design that houses my title using GELATO's and my son's leftover trash that I mentioned!

Does everyone know what a SPIROGRAPH is?
It's a "kids" toy from "way back".... that uses plastic circles with holes in them to create really cool designs. They are still popular today and my son got one recently as a gift.

So after my son makes one (they usually end up circular) -- he uses my circle cutter, which is in my scrapbook room of course, to cut out his design before adding to his collection.  This means that the leftover paper ends up sitting on my scrapbook table.  Funny how he puts away the circle cutter, but not the excess paper.

So, as I sat down one day...I saw his "trash" and had an idea to use the different sizes of circles left in his paper as templates....

On this first one, you can even see the larger spirograph design that he didn't cut out.
I used my Gelatos to draw a yellow circle just inside the cut-out circle.

Then I did the same thing with blue using a larger circle.

Then I used my finger to swipe from the "outline" and push the color "in" towards the center.

This is how it looked when I was done.

I added lots of Washi Tapes and tickets from the Fancy Pants Nautical line to add color to the layout.

Thanks for letting me share with you today!
Here is the layout again.

Live a Colorful Life with Lori!

Thursday, October 2, 2014

I have been playing with Gelatos lately and wanted to share one of my creations with you.

I started with an 8x8 flat canvas board.  I sprayed it with water and picked out two Gelatos - turquoise and lime green.  I scribbled randomly on the canvas.
I have to admit that this part is fun for me!!!  Because the canvas board was wet, the colors started to run and blend.  I used a paint brush and my mini mister to blend the colors until the board was covered.
Once the board was dry, I pulled out some ink and some stencils.
I used Dylusions After Midnight ink with the diamond stencil from the Beauty of Nature Kit.  I masked off the rest of the canvas because I did not want to cover it with the dark ink.

I used the Mini Love Post Stencil from the Capture the Moment Kit with the turquoise gelatos to make the heart.

I used a spray sealer once the ink dried.

I cut out this phrase with my Silhouette Cameo and white vinyl.
I transferred the vinyl onto the canvas.  I almost gave up a few times during this project, but I remembered what fellow DT Member Sandee said - just keep layering!!!  I am very happy with the end result!!!

I hope you choose to Live a Colorful Life!!!

Mixed Media Canvas with Channa!

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

Good morning all,

Channa here, and today i am sharing a mixed media canvas for you.
I was ready to play around and get messy and see below how it turned out:

I used one sheet of paper of the 7 dots, Cold country collection pack. Together with some embellishments, such as flowers, chipboards & stamps from my own stash i created this canvas.
Normally i always start a project with an idea in my mind but this one was completely free style.

Thats the nice part of mixed media, just use whatever you can find on your desk and start playing around.
I made several layers starting from paint, paper, gesso, modeling paste, sprays etc...

Thank you for passing by and have a great day!

A Wonderful Life with Lori!

Saturday, August 9, 2014

This photo of my nieces was taken a few weeks ago on vacation.  I just love these two girls!!  We certainly have a Wonderful Life - especially on vacation!!!

I combined elements from a couple of kits to showcase my picture!!

I used White Linen Ink Spray on my chevron paper, rub ons, buttons and some metal bird charms along with tiny flowers and the heart trim ribbon.

I created this embellishment by rubbing a butterfly on the metal piece and sealing it with Glossy Accents.  I hope you cherish and preserve your Wonderful Life moments!!
