Project Life with Megan!

Hi all! Megan here with you today!

I am months behind in my Project Life album...yep, months. With the pregnancy, the move and now the holidays, I can barely find the time to scrap. But, that's what I love about Project Life. It's such a quick, easy and fun way to preserve your memories. And, no matter how far behind I fall, I still can jump right back into the project easily at any point because I write a weekly journal entry on my blog to include and organize my photos each week as well! So, no matter if it's the next week or the next year before I get around to scrapping a Project Life spread, I don't forget anything and the project remains stress free. I also turn to easy-to-use products that seem to "scrap themselves," such as all the awesome Elle's Studio products found in the Frosted Designs store. Their products are not only fabulous for Project Life but traditional layouts and other paper crafting projects as well!

Here is my Week 14 2014 spread using my Project Life core kit and some fun goodies from the Frosted Designs store. I'm sure you can tell from this spread that I love wood veneers. They are the perfect relatively flat embellishment for pocket pages and I don't think I have yet to scrap a Project Life spread without them. This spread is very photo heavy, so I relied on simple embellishing as to not make things too busy; not only are the wood veneers great for this purpose, but die-cuts as well.

Here's a closer look at the left side of the page. I gotta say, I really love the mini placemats from Jillibean Soup because they make great filler cards. Love this sentiment one here that I backed with light green cardstock and accented with orange sequins.

Now here's a better look at the right side. Both the photo of Liam and my mother-in-law vacuuming and the photo of Liam with my sister-in-law in the lower left are on Elle's Studio die-cuts. I totally love how the Everyday Moments die-cuts blend seamlessly with my Jade Edition Core Kit!

I hope you all enjoyed my last post as a member of the Frosted Designs Design Team. I am stepping down in the new year to focus on Baby #2 coming in the Spring of 2015. I have loved being a part of this team and am looking forward to seeing what Barb and the rest of these talented ladies have in store for us all in the new year!

Friday Challenge - Thanks with a Twist!

Good morning....it's Joni Parker here hosting this week's challenge.  Since it's the week before we celebrate Thankgiving here in the USA, what's more appropriate than a "Thanks" Challenge?   This is perfectly adaptable to anyone not celebrating Thanksgiving....at least I hope everyone has SOMETHING to be thankful for?

I call this one "Thanks with a twist"

Challenge:  Use word THANKS (or THANKFUL or THANKSGIVING, THANK YOU...etc)
AND the twist....You must also use one of the following:  Ribbon/Trim, Twine or Washi Tape.

I created a 2 pager for a friend's 9x9 book I'm creating about her new baby daughter.  I used Studio Calico Printshop papers from the Frosted Designs store...and I used some burlap from my stash (the Chevron is pink and matches the background paper, although it looks darker in my photo).  The white trim, white flower and butterfly are from past Frosted Designs kits.

So Suave with Megan!

Hi all! Megan here today to share two layouts I created with the awesome Suave collection from Authentique! The holiday season is upon us and for me, the holidays are all about family. So in the spirit of this, I wanted to scrap two of my favorite photos of my little guy from our family photo session back in February. I also really love scrapping these photos using this particular collection because all the masculine-themed images and sentiments are great for scrapping my toddler and I love that the blues and grays in this collection coordinate perfectly with the outfits we are wearing!

My first layout features one of my favorite photos from this shoot! I love all the different patterns in this collection, and wanted to feature several of them on this layout, so I created a grid photo mat using five different papers. I also used a sixth patterned piece of paper for my background, making sure it was an understated pattern and also leaving a bit of a cardstock border around the entire page. I added interest to the background paper by splattering some mist and liquid pearls in two corners of the page. I accented the page with one of the Suave die-cut title sentiments, a Details sticker sentiment and several of the Circles and Scallops die-cuts. Then I added some Studio Calico wood veneers covered in black Stickles. Lastly, I stitched an embroidery floss circle frame around the photo, making sure Liam was in the bullseye of the circle. 

My second layout is of Liam and I goofing around during the shoot. I again kept with a sort of grid pattern here and also matted my photo on cardstock to help it pop off all the patterned paper. I included several die-cuts and stickers from the collection and finished off the page by accenting several of the the blue polka dots on the background with buttons from my stash.

Bella Blvd Happiness with Megan!

Hello everyone! Megan here today sharing a couple layouts I created using the Bella Blvd Daily Chevies and Snapshots collections. I have to be honest...I am just stuck in a creative rut right now! I think it's because we have so much going on with buying a new house and trying to get all moved in. I want to scrap but it seems that every time I sit down to do so, my mind goes blank and I just don't feel my mojo flowing. So, when that happens, I try to not only pick up product that helps put me in the mood to scrap, but I search out a sketch or two to help get the creative juices flowing. And that's exactly what I did for these two layouts!

My first layout is based on this sketch from Elle's Studio. This sketch allowed for a lot of creative freedom and I felt the fun design paired well with these bright, fun products. The star border really helps to separate the yellow chevron from the striped paper which is something I felt needed to be done. Also the little house pennant actually started off as a tag I found in the die-cuts package; all I did was cut off the top of it to make it a pennant!


My second layout is based on this sketch from Studio Calico. I knew I had to use the fun teal woodgrain pattern found on the backside of the Snapshots Pajama Day paper for a background. Then, because this pattern was fairly neutral, I used more busy patterns for my accent papers. I used the black and white elements (the black with white polka dot paper, the washi tape and the arrow) to help pull everything together.
