It's Friday!! And that means we have a brand spankin' new challenge for you! Once again, we are helping you use up your supplies! This week we would like to see you use Doilies on your cards, layouts and off the page projects! And of course, they can be store bought doilies, die cut doilies, crocheted doilies or any other doily you can come up with! Our Design Team found some very creative ways to use up the doilies in their craft space... check it out!

Barb used Graphic 45 Communique Line of papers for her cards.

Teresa Jaye used a paper doily as a mask to apply modeling paste as a background on a wooden craft frame. There are also two crocheted doilies backing her burlap flower.

Sketch #224 from Creative Scrappers

Brenda used a square paper doily as a mask, using white mist over kraft cardstock.  She cut off one corner of the doily and tucked it under the bottom of the photo.

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Triangles!

Friday, September 21, 2012

Happy Friday to you! We have another wonderful challenge but before we get to that, we have some birthdays to celebrate!

Happy Birthday Joni, Erin and Lori M!
We hope you all do something fun to celebrate and spoil yourselves!

This week we have a challenge that EVERYONE can participate in because you do not need any special products. We are challenging you to use Triangles on your cards, layouts and projects! How simple is that?! Our Design Team did an amazing job showing you all the creative ways you can do this! Check it out...

Teresa used a Crafter's Workshop stencil to create the triangles on her canvas.

Brenda

Brenda used triangles and squares cut from patterned paper and cardstock to make this maple leaf quilt block.  It is framed in an 8"x8" frame, with the buttons, twine, rubons and alphabet stickers adhered to the outside of the frame.

Celebration Of Childhood

Barb
Barb used long, skinny triangles to create the starburst effect on this layout.

Sarah used a triangle banner punch to create a flower for a page in her art journal.

One of my favorite sponsors is back Mold Muse they have such an amazing range of molds over there, it's a must to click on the link and take a look at what they have to offer
Welcome to Mold Muse. We have been working with clay and resin since 1978 and making molds for over 20 years. Our experience brings you excellent quality molds using only high grade silicone rubber, not too soft, not too hard and perfect for highly detailed pieces and a long mold life.

All of our molds are lovingly handmade by hubby and me. We inspect each mold before shipping to limit clean up on your end.

We pour rather than press all of our molds to pick up every detail. Our process also eliminates the air in silicone which produces a far superior finished product.

We offer all our molds in high quality food grade silicone. Just leave us a note at checkout to pour them in food grade and we will make them for you. This normally takes us and extra 24-48 hours to assure the silicone cures properly before shipping.

Not intended for small children. Silicone Molds can be squishy and fun to play with but can also be a choking hazard. Please keep away from small children or supervise them while playing with the molds.
This weeks prize is a gift certificate worth $25.00, you get to go over and pick your own prize, now how good is that ?

Fabulous Friday Challenge - Office Supplies

Friday, August 31, 2012

What a great week it was last week to see everyone using Chipboard on their projects.  Some very talented ladies out there for sure!
This week is Office Supplies.  What a great chance to use some school supplies.  Let's see what the design team has created this week for some inspiration.

Lydia has repurposed an old 3 ring binder to hold photos of her son's many "model" poses.

Sarah made her own die cut tags out of a manilla file folder then stitched them together to hold her hidden journaling.

Sarah G.

Sarah G. used index cards to make a mini album. She chose her fav photos from last year and scrapped them along the lines of A is for Adventures; B is for Brothers, C is for Cuddles and Hugs ... you get the idea. She bound it all together between a chipboard cover with large book rings. This is a great way to complete a year in review album quickly and effortlessly )

Anita used staples and journaled on a Post-it note.

Child's Reminder Board
Teresa Jaye made an alphabet writing practice set out of manilla file folders and index cards

Carol made her 1st "Junk Journal" using "junks" like paper scraps, old notecards (Egypt themed), product packaging, old jeans etc. Office supplies used: different paper clips, staplers, book rings.

We would like to welcome back Karen from The Paper Trail

Now a little about The Paper Trail
"I have been paper crafting for over 14 years now and really feel that it is an invaluable service to my family and generations to come. I have 3 daughters who are my inspiration and I love the creative outlet it provides me. Seeing the pages that my daughters and family will cherish come to life gives me great satisfaction. Why did I name my store "The Paper Trail?” Well, for me, scrapbooking is all about leaving a paper trail of you for your family and future generations to come. Webster’s dictionary defines paper trail as: documents from which a person's actions may be traced. Doesn’t that just sum up exactly what we do when we create a scrapbook page? We leave a trail of us – what we have done, who we are, etc.
I have opened a store so that you have options available to help you create the best trail that you can.
Our website address is: www.leaveapapertrail.com where we have a blog and online store. If you are ever in the Fayetteville, NC area - stop in at the store and say hi!
Happy Trail Makin’
~Karen"
This is a beautiful prize that Karen has put together, head on over to her shop to have a look at all scrapping supplies that your just going to have to add to your cart

We really look forward to seeing all the wonderful creations this week. And please remember, one entry per person!
You have until noon (Central Time) Thursday, September the 6th to link up your project!

Show Me Sunday with Sarah!

Sunday, July 29, 2012

We are celebrating a birthday (a day late)!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHANNA!!!
We hope you had a wonderful day!

****************************************************************
Happy Sunday everyone!!
Sarah here with a fun flower tutorial for you! This is a really photo heavy post, but stay with me, I promise it's worth it :)

Okay, all you need for this is some old packaging (I usually use the packaging from the Sizzix Bigz dies), some sand paper, an embossing folder of your choice, a flower die that will cut acetate and some paint!

Cut the acetate to fit over the die surface.

Use your Vagabond (hopefully...lol or other die cutting machine) to cut the flower. Steele rule dies will cut acetate. You might be able to cut a shape from the thinner dies if it's a very simple shape, or it will give it a trace kind of for you to hand cut.

Put the acetate into the embossing folder...

Then run it through your die cutting machine again...

And when you open up your embossing folder...you get this very pretty flower that you could totally use on it's own as a cool embellishment...but I'm not finished yet...lol

For the first one I made, I used just one colour. Now, you can paint either side you want to, it just depends on what look you're going for. For this one, I painted the debossed side. Make sure you get all the paint into the recessed areas.

Let it dry (this part is extremely hard for me to do, because you have to let it air dry...if you use a heat gun, you'll lose your embossing and warp the acetate...I have no patience at all...but it's totally worth it. Once it's dry, sand the paint off, and you're left with just the paint that's in the debossed areas!

Isn't it pretty?!

I couldn't get the pink colour that I wanted for the layout that I wanted to make though...so I thought I'd show you another way you can do these flowers too.

For this flower, I painted the debossed side yellow....

Then I painted the other side a light greeny blue colour...waited painfully for it to dry, then sanded the blue to reveal the yellow underside! Fun isn't it?!

When I made the blue/yellow flower, I made sure to make more than one...then I used some on this layout:

There's a couple small ones peaking out from behind the rosette

And another one tucked into that fun little embellishment cluster on the bottom photo.

You could use this technique for a lot of different die cuts....you could also just cut a piece of acetate in a square and create a fun transparency type with this technique. I hope you're inspired to go and get messy with paints and make some fun embellishments!

Happy Scrapping!!

Sarah
