Tutorial Tuesday with Monique!

Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Hi everyone,
Monique here with a funky way to jazz up your card backgrounds using a technique called Embossed Resist.
This is the card I made using this technique:

What You Need

  • White Cardstock
  • Background Stamp.
  • Embossing Powder
  • Embossing Ink
  • Heat tool.
  • Variety of spray inks.
  • Paper Towel.
1,  Cut your white cardstock to 9" x 61/4".  Score at 41/2".

2.  Thoroughly cover your background stamp with Embossing Ink.

3.  Sprinkle with Embossing Powder - make sure all of the stamped image is covered.  Carefully shake off the excess onto a scrap piece of paper and return to jar.

4.  Heat powder with a heat tool to make the powder "set."

5. Spray your inks onto the card randomly, layering them upon each other.

6.  Carefully rub the ink off the embossed areas using some paper towels.

7.  Allow ink to dry, then decorate card as desired.

Thanks for popping by everyone!!  Hope you enjoy using this technique, and enjoy your week!

Sunday Inspiration - Chevrons

Tamra
Florida

My name is Tamra Pope and I've been a papercrafter for 4 years this January and I'm loving every minute of it!  I've always been a crafty person and ever since I found the art of papercrafting, I no longer have a choice in the matter, its an obsession.  I am native to Melbourne, Florida where I live with my husband, Todd (a native to Melbourne too).  Married 8 years this Valentine's Day, no children, but we do have the most adorable miniature dachshunds, Reese and Kimber.  I am a Paralegal by trade and came into papercrafting as my release from the real world.  I joined Close To My Heart three years ago in January as an Independent Consultant.  I am so blessed to be selected for the Frosted Designs Team and I'm looking forward to sharing my love of papercrafting with each of you.

Greece

My name is Channa Suitella and i am born and raised in The Netherlands, but for the last 6 years i live in Athens, Greece. I am married for almost 3 years, with my gorgeous greek husband, hens the reason we live in Greece. No children or pets, that is still work in progress. I have been introduced to scrap-booking about 10 years ago by my mother, who has thought me several crafting options. From making small figurines of fimo clay, sewing, jewelry making, cards to scrap-booking. Over the years i have made several lay outs which are stored in the Netherlands and i am making a new collection here in Greece. I have several passions............travelling, addicted to series, shopping etc but the main one is crafting.  I love making cards & lay outs, using several techniques and tools, stamps, ribbons, punches basically anything that i can find in my stash. I take my time in every craft project i make, i am that bad that if i am not satisfied at the end i will start all over again. At the moment i have some favorite products like dylusion sprays and modeling paste. Last year i opened a small shop with different kinds of embellishments www.craftsandpieces.storenvy.com, feel free to pass by whenever you have time. I am looking forward to continuing to create for Frosted designs and to spread some inspiration. It is a wonderful team and i am glad i am part of it for another term! This is my blog: http://crafts-pieces.blogspot.com

Australia

I am a stay at home Mum of 2, who loves to create.I started making cards in 1998, for about 5 years I made my own cards. All my stuff then got packed up as I did not have the room and I then met my husband. Once married I had the room but not the time. In 2008 I became a Mummy for the first time and then a second time in 2009, so I had even less time but again we had no room as we had moved out of our family home into a rental while we built the house that we now live in.

May 2, 2010 my daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes or Type 1 Diabetes as it is also known. Type 1 diabetes is caused by the immune system mistakenly turning on itself, destroying beta cells within the pancreas and

removing the body's ability to produce insulin. Insulin allows the body to process sugar to create energy, without insulin, the body literally starves as it cannot process food. If you want to know more please follow the link

In 2011 we moved into our new home which had a room especially for me and all my stuff. I was finally able to create again. I create because it is what I love to do but I also do it to escape. I think I will always be a card maker at heart but lately I have been branching out into the mixed media arena and loving it. There are no rules or mistakes only adventures.

Australia

I am a graphic designer and single gal living in Melbourne, Australia. I love all things paper and being creative. My first adventure into the world of paper crafting was to make cards for friends and family. It soon became and obsession and I had more cards that I could send out! So the next logical step for me was to move on to scrapbooking and I have never looked back. When I am not having fun at my scrap desk I love to get into the kitchen and cook up a storm or just hang out with my two kitties. I also enjoy photography and love to travel.

Ohio

My name is Brenda Becknell and I live in SW Ohio with my husband of 37 years. Our son, daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren are all nearby, along with a lot of our extended family, so I have plenty of scrapping subjects around. DH and I also like to take motorcycle trips with friends, and enjoy taking the scenic routes so I have lots of travel photos to scrap. I've been scrapping about 15 years now, and also enjoy stamping, cardmaking, reading, sewing, baking and quilting.
