Friday, December 31, 2010

Happy New Year's Eve everyone! At a time of year when everyone is reflecting on their lives and the goals they have set for the upcoming year.... we, here at Frosted Designs, have done some reflecting and have set some goals of our own! It has been 6 months since the new team has been in place and we have already seen several changes. We want to continue to grow and change to meet the needs of all of you! Here are some things you have to look forward to in the upcoming year....

*We are going to continue to challenge those of you who are so faithful to join us and participate each week by using supplies you already have with techniques that challenge your creativity!

*We are going to provide tutorials to help crafters of all levels to create better layouts, cards and projects!

*We are going to continue to provide one of a kind sketches to challenge you to create the best cards and layouts that you can!

*We will continue to provide inspiration from our design team that gets you excited about creating and sharing the things you create.

*As we continue to grow with new followers, we are hoping to provide prizes that get you excited about playing along!

*We are going to be featuring many new guest designers this year!

Hopefully these goals get you excited to join along each week with our Fabulous Friday Challenges and our Sketch Along Tuesday Challenges! So.... Now it is time to start the new year off with a new challenge! This week we are asking you to use a quote on your card, layout or project!

Lia Stampz, digital stampsWe have a fabulous new sponsor this week.... Lia Stampz! Please take some time to check out the adorable selection of digi stamps available in her store! You can find her store HERE! The winner of this week's challenge will get to choose 3 digi stamps of their choice!

"Tired of same old digis? Want something new, unique and original? Check out Lia Stampz. And if you happen to pass by, make sure you check the newest discounts and drop a line for the chance to win free digis!"

Here are some examples from our design team for using quotes....

Barb used the digi image from this week's sponsor, Lia Stampz to add a fun embellishment to her page. Because the water from the sprinkler was hard to see in the photo, Barb added some stickles on top of the photo and onto the umbrella the frog is holding!

Crystal is trying to scrap pictures of her tour in Iraq, this is the second in the series. The quotes that she used are found at the bottom of her journaling block : "Freedom is NOT free" and "A battle buddy-24/7-has your back" The pictures are from the first few weeks (top) and last few days (bottom) of her tour. This battle buddy is now Caitlyn's "God Father" for lack of a better word, and is a part of her family now.

Libeeti used the quote to go along with the photo of her eldest in the middle of a flourishing field. She used DCWV cs and October Afternoon's dp. Butterflies - some are punched - MS, with some rhinestones, and some are rub-ons. In the middle of the winter, it is so nice to
remember that spring will come, eventually

Libeeti also made this "thank you" card, using an image from our sponsor for this challenge, Lia Stampz, and a quote from Raindropecho:

Lori used her Gypsy and the Paper Lace cartridge to create the background and title for this page.  The flowers are cream paper flowers that she inked with Tim Holtz silver alcohol ink.  Throw in a few gems and some Black Diamond stickles and it is complete!
Angela also used a digi from Lia Stampz to create this adorable card! She added some twine, a button and a ticket to finish it off!

Diana
Diana used a stamp from Lia Stampz for the card. Papers are from fancy pants and the ribbon is from bobunny.

Ruth
Ruth said, "One of my favorite quotes:  The Glory of God is a human being fully alive."
Ruth chose to use our tuesday sketch by Debbie for this layout.  She flipped it around just for fun.  She also loved that she could use up bits & pieces.....scraps from a scrapbook kit to create this layout.

We would love to see your card, layouts and projects using quotes! Be sure to link up your project for a chance to win 3 digi stamps from Lia Stampz!

Sketch Along Tuesdays December 28th Challenge

Tuesday, December 28, 2010

Well, the holidays have come and gone and things are starting to settle down. It's hard to believe that the new year is the end of the week.  We've had a wonderful year here at Frosted Designs and look forward to the next.  We have a great new sketch for you today:

Debbie created this wonderful sketch!

Now let's see what our design team has created:

Debbie:
Debbie flipped the sketch so she could add the Santa and tree she cut out from some K and Company Christmas paper. The sketch was perfect for her photos of her children's visit from Santa.  Little did they know that Santa was their "Pop Pop" dressed up!  Such a wonderful memory!  She added several embellishements also from K and Company and a lot of stickles.
This weeks sketch from Debbie worked out perfectly for Fern on this sweet layout of GS Zach's 1st Christmas.  She used the beautiful BoBunny ~Noel Ornaments paper with the American Crafts ~Thickers ~ Lullaby Glitter Letters, glittery ribbon and some berries from her swirlydoos kit.

Libeeti used some scraps strips to make the frame and an embossed dp for the matting of her boys' photos taken at Timna Valley. For the decoration on the left corner, she used a silver glittered rub-ons. The kites were also made out of scraps.

 Joni:
Joni liked the simplicity of this sketch and used that inspiration on her layout about her son's Kindergarten Christmas play.  Photos are of her son & his friend, and the play was called "The Gingerman"... hence the title The Gingerman Friends.  Papers are Bo Bunny Block Party.

Our sponsor this month is me, Debbie and I've put together a beautiful prize package:
Die Cuts With A View has released a new paper pack, The Lace and Linen Stack!  It's gorgeous!  Lots of pinks and creams with ribbons and lace!  I've added a mini album and some pretty embellishments!   All you need to do for a chance to win this prize is play along!

Show Me Sunday - A Tutorial from Fern!

Sunday, December 26, 2010

Hi everyone, Fern here, and it's my turn to share a tutorial with you...  I'm going to show you a quick and easy way to add a little bit of sparkle to your layouts and cards by using die cuts and glitter and a few other household things!

Things you will need:
Cardstock Paper
Die Cut Templates or Punches  ~ I'm showing you a few different samples.. You can also use cuts from your Cricut Cartridges...
Packing Tape
Glitter ~ I used Martha Stewart Sugar Coating Glitter
Scissors

Punch or cut out your images...

Now comes the tricky part... Take a piece of the tape, sticky side up..be sure you don't get your fingerprints on the part of the tape you're going to put the glitter on or it will show... now with the right side up, stick the die cut on the tape..

sprinkle glitter over the die cut. Press the glitter with your fingers down into the cuts/holes..

Now brush off the glitter and with your scissors cut around the image as close as you can...   and here are the results...

And here you can see what I did with the ornaments...  I added lilac glitter on these..
And here is a layout I did using 3 of the butterflies..
I told you it was quick and easy, and really a great way to add a little extra sparkle to any layout or card!! I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and will give it a try...  If you do I would love to see what you created!!!  You can check out my blog for the details on the layout!!!
Have a wonderful day!!!
Hugs!!!

Wow! That is a huge prize package! You will have two weeks (2 challenges) to submit a project to win this prize!

Here is what our design team did for you this week....

Crystal
Crystal used the word "family" in her title on this bright layout about her daughter entertaining everyone. She journaled around the edges to create a frame and "ground" her layout.

Lori

Lori used her Gypsy and Cricut to create this Family Mini Album.  She used Lacy Labels for the pages and various cartridges for the words Family, Home, Live, Laugh, Love and History in the Making.  The A on the cover is for her last  name.  She put recent pictures of her family inside and even made a pocket to put a tag for journaling.  This would make a great gift or coffee table book!

Barb used this week's sketch to complete this layout of her family.

Angela said it best in her own words... "I followed this weeks sketch! (which I just loved by the way!!) certainly boosted my mojo!  The journaling reads....Our family starts and ends with us.  My hubby and I have been together for 28 years. Still blissfully happy....(most of the time LOL) x"

Remember.... if you use our current sketch (on the right sidebar) and include the word FAMILY somewhere in your project, you can enter both challenges... doubling your chance to win a great prize! (If you haven't checked out the sketch challenge prize, you need to! It is pretty amazing!!)

We hope this has inspired you to make some time for yourself this week to create! Thank you for all the lovely comments all of you leave for us. We really love hearing from you! And remember, you can always find more details about each of the projects by visiting each design team member's blog. (Just click on their name above the project and it will take you to their blog.)
