Friday, March 11, 2011

**Our hearts and prayers go out to all the people who have been affected by the earthquake that hit Japan and pray for safety for those in the line of the Tsunami. **

Happy Friday! I don't know about you, but us gals here at Frosted Designs are thinking about spring! So we selected this fabulous photo to be your inspiration for this weeks challenge...

This week we are challenging you to use this photo and the colors highlighted for your cards, layouts and projects!!

Now, we would like to introduce you to the rest of the Friday Challenge design team.....You are going to love the things they have created to inspire you!

Lydia
Hi! My name is Lydia Wiley and I am an American girl living in New Zealand planting a church with my husband of 16 years. I am a stay at home mum to 3 boys, ages 11, 9, and 7. They are the joys of my life! Photography is passion of mine and now living in New Zealand I have new adventures to document. I love to watch my boys growing up from behind my camera capturing the daily moments along with the special occasions. I have been scrapbooking for almost 16 years and love every part of it, from telling the story behind the photo to using great products. I also enjoy baking, and spending time with my family whether at the beach, hiking or just hanging out.

Hi! My name is Kristin and I simply adore creating with paper. Paper crafting is not just a passion it's a have to for me. I tend to get a little cranky when a day goes by and I haven't crafted. Cards and altering items are my main focus. However, I am just getting into scrapbooking too. My wonderful hubby built me my very own craft studio in 2009 and my passion for this hobby took off. I live in N.W. Indiana, 45 mins from Chicago with my amazing hubby of 14 years and our incredible 10 year old son. Besides crafting I enjoy being a stay at home Mom and creating a wonderful atmosphere for my family.

My name is Barb and I am a fairly new blogger but certainly not new to crafting or scrapping. I am happily married and have a 22 year old son. Our home is in St. Cloud Minnesota. By day, I am a full time corporate meeting planner. My hobbies include traveling, cooking, exchanging recipes, quilting, and especially paper crafting, whether it is scrapbooking or card making. I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. My favorite tool is my Cricut Expression (though my Gyspy is now running a close second). I have to thank my husband who gave me my first Cricut a few years ago. I was skeptical at first, but now, can’t live without it. I became a Creative Memories consultant about a year and a half ago, mainly to support my scrappy habit. Since then I have hosted several themed scrapbook retreat weekends and swaps for my friends/family. I am over the moon excited about being a part of Frosted Designs Friday Challenge team and look forward to sharing my ideas with all of you.

Hi my name is Amanda, I have been scrapbooking/ paper crafting for around 7 years now, but started getting into my albums full on around 4 years ago. I hope to be doing it for many many years to come, in fact I hope that they don't look at me weird when I turn up to our local nursing home with Cricut under one arm and tote under the other arm. I have been married for 6 years with three children, 5, 3, 1. I live in the South/West of Western Australia about 3 hours from our major city Perth. I'm very excited to be joining the you at Frosted Designs as one of your newest DT members

SHOW ME SUNDAY BY:Crystal

Sunday, February 20, 2011

I just think these are adorable. They may not be for layouts but they could easily be for cards you will not send, home decor, minis etc. They are VERY dimensional. You can use less cupcake liners to make them less dimensional if you choose. Let's get started!

You will need: 8 cupcake liners, I used white so that I was able to spritz them to match an upcoming project; one green pipe cleaner per flower, and a hole punch (I used my crop a dile)
Line the eight cupcake liners in front of you.
Now squish them flat with your hand, they do NOT have to be perfect!
After they are all relatively flat, gather them into a stack and fold in half.
Using your crop a dile punch ONE hole in center of fold but NOT on crease!
Open the folded liners to reveal two holes, now thread all flowers onto pipe cleaner, then back down through the second hole.
This is what the top inside will look like before you pull it tight.
At this point you can twist the excess of the pipe cleaner OR make a leaf like I will later on.
Now one layer at a time pinch the bottoms of each liner into the center. This is NOT perfect and is totally up to you.
What mine looks like before rearranging it a bit.
And here we go! What do you think? I plan on making some of these and placing in a little pot that Caitlyn paints for Grandparents Day this year. You could also omit the pipe cleaner and use glue dots to adhere the layers together in the center, then scrunch around a big blingy brad or a button. The possibilities are only limited to your imagination. Fancy them up with spray ink, shimmer, rhinestones, chalk, ink etc. Have fun with it, I hope you like them!

Fabulous Friday Challenge!

Friday, January 28, 2011

It's Friday and we all know what that means... another Fabulous Friday Challenge!! This week we are asking you to work with one color.... that's right... this week is a Monochromatic Challenge!!

We have a wonderful sponsor this week.... Craft Your Passion! We were lucky enough to have two designers digis to work with. I will tell you more about them but first, meet our Guest Designer....

Susan

Hi, I'm Susan, from the UK and I LOVE crafting but hate talking about myself :P My card-making has really taken off since the advent of digi images, I'm completely rubber-challenged, and the new format of stamps makes things so much better for me. So much so that I started creating my own digi papers; the papers I used for today's challenge card were created by me specifically for this card, I just love being able to do that. I was very honoured (and even more suprised) when Barb asked me to be a GDT for Frosted Designs and I used the wonderful Rockette Wedding by this week's sponsor.

Here is the gorgeous card Susan made....

Be sure to stop by Susan's Blog, Susan's Crafty Chaos.... you can find it HERE!

Thank you Susan for joining our team this week!
