TAG! You're it!

Monday, December 8, 2014

Hi everyone! Julie with you here today, and it is that time of year!!! The Christmas crafts are being made, cards, gifts, sweets ... and of course to wrap them all up, you need TAGS!!

My 8 year old daughter Brookie made some little ornaments for her friends and family for Christmas this year, and I made so tags to go along with them :)

I used Bo Bunny's Elf Magic collection for the tags -- seriously one of my all time FAVE Christmas collections EVER!!!

Only two more days….

______________________________________________________________________________

Hello everyone!! I hope you had a great Memorial Day weekend & are looking forward to summer! I know I am!!! I'm here today to share a fun layout I did using lots of goodies you can find in the Frosted Designs store! If you know me at all, you know I like to mix and match collections, and that is what I did today!!
I used pieces from Basic Grey, Carte Bella, and Bo Bunny to come up with this  layout! Here are some pictures:

Here are a few close ups:

I used the creme brûlée dauber from my Lindy's stamp gang try me set to pearlize my background for the 'night sky' .

For the title & other elements on my page I used stickers from the Bo Bunny Zip-a- Dee-doodle combo sticker sheet. I also anchored some of the elements to my page with some Trendy Tape in black chevron & the steampunk gold one. I love how they look together!

I colored the Um Wow layered clouds with a combo of Faber Castel Gelatp in gold & some more creme brûlée. The tiny stars are wood veneer by Studio Calico, also colored with gelato & a wet brush. I love how it turned out against the pink!

I hope you have enjoyed this whimsical layout. Here is the list of products I used that can be found in the Frosted Designs store. Happy shopping!!

Valentine's Day is Just Around the Corner!

Saturday, January 25, 2014

Hello, everyone!   Brenda here with a few ideas for some Valentine's Day cards.

If you saw my craft room, you would think I had enough patterned paper to cover every possible occasion, but I have to admit that there is one area that is sadly lacking - Valentine's Day.  I don't have any Valentine themed papers in my stash, so I challenged myself to create some Valentine's Day cards from other themed papers.  Here's what I created, using Fall and Winter papers from the Frosted Designs store.

These papers are from various collections from BoBunny, Crate Paper, Bella Blvd., and Echo Park.  Here are the details on the cards.

I started with the large heart from the Polka Dot Party wood veneer shapes package and some striped paper from BoBunny's "Elf Magic" collection.  I traced the heart onto the paper, and then again about 1/4" outside the lines and cut on the larger outline to get the opening.  I stitched around the opening and around the card edges, then adhered the paper to a white card base.  I painted the heart red, then covered it with glue and red glitter and adhered it to the card, centering it in the opening.  I used a fine tip black pen to write "love" in various spots on the lines of the patterned paper and added a red ribbon bow to finish it off.

The main portion of this card is a journaling card from the Crate Paper "Bundled Up" collection; the zigzag stitching was already on the card - yay!  I diecut three hearts from two of the papers in the same collection and adhered them to the journaling card, with the middle heart popped up with foam adhesive.  I added letter stickers to the large heart, and a wooden arrow underneath.  I used scissors to snip the wooden arrow in half and tucked the cut edges under the heart.  A few ink splatters finished off the card.

Sometimes you need a Valentine's Day card that's not quite so red/pink/lovey dovey.  For this card, I used the Echo Park Fall Reflections collection.  I backed the sentiment sticker with brown cardstock and trimmed around it to leave a narrow mat, then adhered it with foam adhesive to a piece of patterned paper.  I added a couple of chipboard hearts, coated with Rock Candy Distress Stickles (my favorite Stickles ever!) and a brown bow.

The last card uses papers from Bella Blvd's "Daily Chevies" line and BoBunny's "Elf Magic" line.  I cut two different size squares of patterned paper and adhered them to white cardstock, using a Maya Road heart bubble clip at the top.  The alphabet stickers are also from the "Elf Magic" collection, and three wooden hearts finish off the card.  I added pink Stickles to the hearts and the inside of the heart on the metal clip.

I hope you're inspired to use your stash and create some Valentine's Day cards!

December Memories with Brenda!

Saturday, December 28, 2013

Well, it's the end of December....Christmas is over and we're almost at a new year.  I hope you all had a very merry Christmas and have plenty of great photos to scrap!  Today it's my turn to share a project on the Frosted Designs blog.

If you're like us, December is such a busy month that sometimes some of the little (but still very special) moments get lost in the shuffle.  While all the events of the month were still fresh in my mind, I made a page about some of these little moments I want to remember.  There weren't photos to go along with most of these, so I chose some of the random December photos that might not otherwise make it onto a page, but still show some happy December times.

I used several items from the Frosted Designs store for this page:   paper from the Crate Paper "Bundled Up" 12x12 paper pack, alphabet stickers from the Bo Bunny "Elf Magic" collection and star confetti from Um Wow Studio.

One thing I really like about the Crate Paper "Bundled Up" pack is that some of the papers have little elements to cut out as embellishments:  banners, tags, borders, journaling blocks and word blocks.  I used two of the little banners for my bottom border, and fussy cut the banner sentiment for an added embellishment.   Often I paint the star confetti pieces, but this time I left them their natural wood color and just added some silver glitter.  Note:  I love the Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue for attaching these tiny pieces or any embellishment.  It holds well and dries very quickly.  I just used a toothpick to dab a little glue on the stars.

Here's a closeup of some of the glittery stars.  I used a small paintbrush and some glue to add some glitter to the banner sentiment, too.   Most of the time I'm not a big glitter user because it's so messy (or maybe I'm just messy with it!) but Christmas projects just call out for some extra sparkle!

I hope you all have a happy New Year, and take some time to scrap some of your December memories.

Brenda's Quick & Beautiful Gift Idea!

Saturday, November 23, 2013

Hi, everyone!  Brenda here with a quick gift or home décor idea for this holiday season.

I love candles, especially at this time of year.  I love all the holiday scents, especiallyYankee Candle's  Spiced Pumpkin for Fall and Mistletoe for Christmas.   Sometime, though, you want to dress up the candle jar a little bit, especially if you're giving it as a gift.   I used some items from the Frosted Designs store to add a little something extra to these candles.

These are both large jar candles, so I cut the patterned paper strip 3.5" x 12".  This covers the printed jar label without getting into the top and bottom curve of the jar.  (There's a gap of about 1/4" in the back, as a 12" length doesn't quite go around the jar, but I just adhered the paper directly to the jar with my ATG gun or glue lines.  You could also punch holes and add ribbon ties if you prefer.)

For the jar on the left, I used the Echo Park Reflections Fall paper collection, stitching 1/2" border strips to the top and bottom of the 3.5" x 12" paper piece.  The banners were fussy cut from one of the journaling blocks in the collection and adhered under the top border, with three buttons added on each side of the banner border.  The brown lace trim was adhered with glue dots.

The jar on the right uses the BoBunny Elf Magic collection.  The red dot paper was cut at 3.5" x 12" and the fa-la-la paper was cut at 3.25" x 12" and stitched to the red dot paper.  The Santa and candy cane were fussy cut from another patterned paper and adhered to one of the tags in the paper collection.  I added some glitter to the fur on Santa's suit for a little bling, and then attached the tag with red twine over the ribbon bow.

There you have it - a pretty and quick way to add a little something extra to a plain jar candle!
