"A Moment in Time" Kit Challenge!

Wednesday, March 5, 2014

Hey there everyone!!!  It's Brandi here today with a brand new Kit Challenge!!! Spring is right around the corner and this kit has everything you need to get in the mood :-)

I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our very own "Kit Challenge" last month!!!  It's awesome to see everyone's take on the challenge an how versatile Frosted Designs kits really are!  And this kit is no exception... It's packed full of beautiful papers, gorgeous flowers, fabulous embellishments, and more!  I just couldn't wait to create with it  :-)

First, I'll explain this month's kit challenge:  We are going to stick with a recipe as it gives you, the subscriber, more control over which items you would like to use.  Remember: ANY TYPE OF PROJECT is acceptable so long as you use at least three of the following items from the kit:

~ Black Background (Can be solid cardstock!)
~ One Word Title
~ Chipboard or Wooden Die-Cuts (At least ONE piece!)
~ Flowers (At least ONE!)
~ Ribbon

Fell free to use other items as you normally would...  Just be sure to include three of the above on your project to be entered in to win a fabulous prize!  Speaking of fabulous prizes...  Guess who is sponsoring this month's challenge?!?

That's right!!!  A $10.00 gift certificate to Dies R Us!!!  They carry dies from Impression Obsession, Spellbinders, Penny Black, and much, much, more!!!!  Stop by their page to check out all the wonderful products they have in store!  Be sure to stop by their Facebook page as well and tell them Frosted Designs sent you!!!

Now, onto a couple of projects I made using this absolutely AMAZING kit:

First, an altered embroidery hoop: (I just saw these on Pinterest and HAD to give it a try!)

Aren't these colors just AMAZING?!?!?  I am in LOVE with everything this kit provides!!!  As you can see, I also utilized products from last month's kit as well!!!

I started by creating my background by randomly adding color to solid white cardstock using the Tim Holtz "Picked Raspberry" Distress Paint, "African Jade" Luminarte Silks Glaze, and a gold gelto.  Then I took a paint brush and a little water and blended the colors just a bit.  I added a little gesso in various areas and spread it thinly to mute the colors.  I finished the background with molding paste atop the Tim Holtz "Dot Fade" layering stencil from last month's kit.

The flowers in this kit are just gorgeous!!!  I knew I wanted plenty of flowers on this project so I left a few as is, and layered on some gesso to the rest of them.  I also added Kaisercraft blooms to the mix, painting some of the Iceberg ones with the Luminarte Glaze and topping it off with gesso.

For my title, I used the tiny black letter stickers included in the kit and Pink Paislee Colorwash Thickers that were sanded and painted with the Silks glaze.  I added some of the trim included in the kit under my title as well!

I finished the project with a couple of the wooden butterflies by Kaisercraft, which were painted with the paints, gesso, and Lindy's Stamp Gang Mists.

Next on the list is a layout I completed using various papers from the kit, as well as the Tim Holtz layering stencil, Luminarte Paint, Kaisercraft Rub-Ons, brads, flowers, trim, and wooden butterfly!

See how different these two projects are and both are created from the same kit?!?  AMAZING!!!!!!
I started with the black background paper and added a little texture with the layering stencil, molding paste, and Lindy's Magicals for the color.   I used the white gel pen from last month to create the faux stitching around the clock!  For the butterfly, I started by clear embossing the tiny clock from the Prima Stamps in the kit and Versamark ink, then painting over it with the Silks Glaze.  I added a bit of gold perfect pearls for additional shimmer and color.

I added some flowers, topped with gesso, to the corners of my photo.

I also added the word "Lucky" using the tiny black letter stickers!  I painted all the chipboard and wooden pieces with gesso.

I used the Luminarte Paint to color my trim, and added the Kaisercraft rub-on "Treasure" as my one word title!!!

Well gang...  Thanks soooo much for stopping in!!!  I can't wait to see what YOU create with your kits!!!  Have a LUCKY day :-)
You have until 12:00 noon (cst) on Wednesday, March 26th to create and enter your project.
