A Mother's Day Gift Idea by Erin!

Saturday, April 30, 2011

Ever wonder what the perfect gift is for you mom on mothers's day, or what to do with all those leftover scraps of paper and embellishments?

Here is a wonderful idea for you.  I was looking through one of my old scrap mags and came across this great little idea.

Using binder clips (like you find in the office supply stores) adhere strips of paper, ribbon, yard, bling, and stickers to make a fun little picture holder.

You take a strip of paper that is the width of the binder clip, and tuck it under the front edge, then trim the back side so it fits under the back edge.  Adhere with glue dots of your adhesive runner.  For this picture holder, I took some wonderful ribbon and tied it to old side of the clip and then frayed the ends for a fun look.

In this holder I took a tag and trimmed it to fit the clip, I placed a gem in the hole that was left from the tag.

This holder was made from a sticker tag leftover from one of the sticker sheets in the May Trail Makers Kit, then tied 2 different matching colored yarn bits to it.

The beauty of the binder clip is that it has a flat base so when you clip the picture into the holder it stand upright.  You can place you holder on the side of the picture or in the middle, where ever you want it to go!!

I did 2 different sizes, but there are even bigger binder clips that you could make a holder for.  There are also lots of colors the clips come it, white, black, green, red, etc so that adds to the fun.

Enjoy!!

I enjoy doing errands for my mom in my car. I love bright colors. My room is painted bright lime green, to let you know how much I love bright colors! Another one of my hobbies is baking cupcakes! It's so fun! Decorating them is my favorite part.

SHOW ME SUNDAY BY: Lori

Sunday, April 24, 2011

Happy Easter for those of you who celebrate it!! This is Lori and I made a fun little Z-Fold Easter Card today. You could easily add your own holiday or special event to this card base.

You start with a piece of cardstock 12" x 4 1/4". Score the paper at 1 1/4", 2 1/2", 4 1/2" and 6 1/2". Fold the paper back and forth (so it looks like a Z or two).

For the design, I turned to my Gypsy. I found the grass from Easter 2010 and cut out two sized at 4.40w x 2.21h.

On the second Layer, I cut out 6 eggs from Easter 2010 at 1.35" height. I cut out the layers to the bunny from Create-A-Critter at 3.47" height. I cut out the phrase Happy Easter from Holiday Cakes at 1.82" height.

I separated the pieces on my mat by the color of paper I am using.

This is a great way to use up my scraps!

On the Gypsy, the grass seemed tall enough. When I laid it on my card I wasn't happy with it. I trimmed another piece and glued it down at the bottom, then glued the grass pieces on top of it.

Here are the rest of the pieces.

I glued the bunny together and attached the eggs and sentiment.

Here is a side view. Before I glued the bunny down, I closed up the card to see where he would look best.

I added some Stickles to the eggs and bunny. I tied a yellow ribbon in the grass to hide my seam.

And here it is all finished. This is my first Z-Fold card, the first of many to come!!
