Fabulous Friday Challenge

Friday, November 5, 2010

It has been a fun week of new changes here at Frosted Designs! We hope that you have liked what you have seen so far!! Now, to keep the fun going, you get to see the debut of some of our other designers!! But first, do you want to see what you are playing for?!

This week, Purple Pumpkin is sponsoring our challenge! The Purple Pumpkin is owned by Samatha Hauzer who hails all the way from Australia. She sells unique embellishment kits and one of a kind buttons.Look at what is up for grabs!! I personally would love to be able to win this prize!!

If you have ever ordered from Purple Pumpkin, you know that their buttons are so popular, it is hard to get them ordered before they are all sold out!! Well, now you don't have to wait in line!! Enter our challenge this week and next week and you will be entered into the drawing to win!!

Now... on to the challenge!!

This week we would like you to use up some of those really large photos you have laying around! You know the ones I am talking about... the kids school photos, the dance pictures, the soccer pictures, the family pictures... you get the idea!! We would like for your photo to be larger than half of the area you are using! So, if you are doing a 12x12 layout, you should try scrapping an 8x10 photo!! You can apply the same concept to a card or altered craft item!! Have some fun with it! Layer your title on top of the photo, place embellies on the image, etc....Look at what our design team was able to do....

Joni used an 8 x 10 photo of her son and then layered the title and embellishments right on top! She even overlapped her journaling tag over the photo! Do you see the cute little monster poking his head out from behind the photo?!
Lori used a large photo of her mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on her mother's second Christmas. She used the cricut to cut out the title and photo mat.

Angela loves using large photos!! can you tell?! Here is her son Patrick showing off his soccer skills while they were on holidays! Because she had lots of white space on the photo, she incorporated her title within it.

Crystal does not use oversize pictures often but this was fun. She is experimenting with distress inks and stamping. This is her family in 1999.

Barb

Barb's first project is an acrylic mini album she made for her daughter. The theme of the birthday party was "Girls Rock! Spring Tour 2010!" By using the clear acrylic album, Barb was able to layer the title on two different pages of the scrapbook. Each of the tabs on the side highlight some of the things her daughter enjoyed the most about her party!
Believe it or not, this is the same daughter, just at a younger, sweeter age!!Barb found this quote that she thought was perfect for this photo! After layering her title over the photo, she also layered a garden of flowers on the photo!

Libeeti  used a big family photo from one of her family's trips. Libeeti used dp from Melissa Frances' & 7gypsies. She framed the photo with some acrylic paint and distressed all the edges. Libeeti also stamped swirls all around the photo, and added some red stickles on them, and then topped them with some pearls. She adhered different types to flowers and different types of letters for her title. For the journaling, Libeeti stamped journal blocks.

Diana scrapped this 5 x 7 photo of her family. She used 7 gypsies (Orchestra), Fancy Pants Wishful Thinking (rose Petals and Adorable pp, Alpha Stickers and Element Stickers), also used some primas.

Ruth
Ruth chose an 8x12 enlargement to feature on her page of her son doing what he loves best.  If you haven't worked with these large photos, we encourage you to try it.  The detail is fantastic!  Fancy Pants Designs "Like Father, Like Son" line was a fun choice with additional embellies like Take Note Journaling Tag & Philosophy tag and letter stickers from Prima.

Now that you have seen what our designers have done with the large photos, we would love to see what you can do!! Remember, you can make a card or any other altered project as long as the picture is at least half the size of the surface you are working on!!

You only have two weeks to try to win our prize from Purple Pumpkin! Be sure to enter a project for a chance to win! The more projects you enter, the more chances you have to win!!
