Red, White, & Blue and Stars & Stripes Challenge

Thursday, July 1, 2010

Hi everyone, my name is Debbie and I'm hosting this week's first challenge for July. I am a single mom to two, Jeffrey 23, Sara 20, and one precious furbaby Zoey, who is 6. I received a completed album "all about me" as a birthday gift 12 years ago. I remember I thought it was the most beautiful, creative book I had ever seen. I took one beginners class and was hooked. I love to work with various patterned papers, and can not live without pop up dots or inks! For several years I worked at a LSS where I ordered the inventory (so much fun!), taught classes and designed page kits. I would love for you to take the time and stop by my blog Love Life's Little Pleasures when you have time.

So are you ready for a new challenge? The first challenge for July is to use Stars and Stripes, and red, white and blue! Can't think of a better challenge for the Fourth of July weekend! I had these papers by Glitz Designs that were perfect for this challenge, and couldn't think of a better subject to scrapbook, then my precious dog, Zoey. Actually these pictures were taken 4 years ago, and I can't believe how well they go with the papers.

Now since it is July, that means we have a new amazing prize!

For a chance to win this prize, you need to become a follower and play along! Each time you enter a project you earn a chance to win this July prize package. The more you enter, the more chances you have to win. At the end of the month we will do a random draw from all the entires to determine a winner. So what are you waiting for?! Dig through those pictures and papers and lets create!

*We would like to thank Debbie for donating this fabulous prize this month!!

Now.... let's see what the rest of the design team did with this week's challenge!!

Joni doesn't often do 2 pagers, but she had a lot of photos that supported the story of her son's FIRST EVER donut at the age of 6...yea that's why it was layout worthy!! She actually had this layout and paper picked out when she realized it was red, white & blue AND had stars and stripes on it!

Joni demonstrated that a layout didn't really have to be "patriotic" and could still fit the theme.

So with that new realization flashing through her head, she did a second layout, also not patriotic, that meets the challenge.

Barb took advantage of this weeks challenge to do a scrapbook LO of her nephew who recently joined the Army. The stars were cut using the Stand and Salute cartridge and then Barb made them dimensional by adding a few fold lines to them! The 3 words in the LO are the Core Values he was taught during his basic training.

Because 4th of July is upon us, Erika decided to make an encouragement card with a star theme! She originally thought she would cut a star out and put it on the front of a card, then decided to make the card a star! She also thought a little bling and fireworks may add a little something special to her card.

Now... let's see what you can do!! Be sure to link up your projects for a chance to win!!!
