Designer Spotlight Featuring Amanda!

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Today, I am thrilled to introduce Amanda to you! Amanda is so much more than a designer here at Frosted Designs! She is also our Sponsorship Coordinator and manages both our Facebook and Pinterest Boards! She is amazing and we would be lost without her!

5 Fun Facts about Amanda...

1. I can not sleep properly when my bedrooms untidy, (my husband often lifts his head to me doing a bit of a tidy before bed)

2. I love social media, and will talk forever, in fact if my friends have not heard from me at least once a day, I’m sick or injured.

3. I love nothing more then my family, my friends and to craft. My family are the last people I see at night and the first I people I see in the morning, they are the roof over my head, the giggles running around the house, the memories made at Christmas, the reason why I can call myself a proud mum, they are my world, without them I would have nothing to scrap, simple as that!!!

4. I hate cricket, love football, one is slow, one is fast, and I get bored easily.
5. Every craft that I have done I taught myself from books or just kept trying until I got it right, and I can say that I have done so many different crafts that I have lost count now.

More About Amanda....

I live in the land down under (Australia) I grew up in Tasmania, a little island off Australia, and now live in Western Australia, with 3 children and my very own fireman that is my husband. I now have 3 children going to school with my baby starting kindy this year, so loads more time to scrap

Living in Australia I have learnt a couple of things, NOT everyone loves vegemite (this is a spread that we put on our toast every morning) and is in 99% of Australian homes. And Koalas and Kangaroos are so beautiful but we don't generally go out and pluck a koala out of a tree and give it a cuddle and they would scratch us to pieces. I've also seen 2 massive kangaroos in the wild (big reds they are called) having a fight, they were at least 7 foot tall.

I can never keep on top of having a clean/pretty scrap room, but love creating fun bright layouts for the kids and will move slowly into more shabby chic for the girls and grunge for my son as they get older.

I lost my mum at a young age, and never had the chance to ask about this or that, so I'm finding it very important to keep everything and scrap it, and I mean everything :)

Designer Spotlight Featuring Carol!

Tuesday, February 12, 2013

This week we are sharing another Designer with you... Carol! Carol is so talented and her skills go far beyond scrapbooking layouts! She has done several videos for Frosted Designs that demonstrate mixed media techniques and her sketches are amazing!

5 Fun Facts about Carol...

  1. I'm terrified of cockroaches. Just the sight of them, even dead ones, can cause my whole body to itch and I will start scratching!!! My hubby call that "Carol's Syndrome"
  2. I love to sketch landscapes and manga characters, especially the eyes. My greatest desire is to learn to sketch trees and human hands. And my greatest dream is to go NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts) to study fine arts
  3. I love to eat chocolate and potato (any kind of potato dishes). But the irony now is I get migraine when I eat chocolate. So sad!! But at least I still got my potato!!
  4. I'm a tv addict and a Korean drama fan!!
  5. My nicknames from young are "Bookworm" (I love to read and I'm proud of this title), "IQ Professor" (I used to wear a big, round glasses that resemble a Japanese cartoon female character, IQ Professor in high school) and "Typhoon" (given by my high school friends too)
More About Carol....

Throughout my life,I had quite a number of unfulfilled dreams. My first love is Arts, followed by Travel. Never got the chance to go NAFA to study Fine Arts as my dad thought its hard to earn a living through arts. Graduated with a Diploma in Tourism Management. But after a twist of fate, I worked in Accounts line after graduation. Never really step into the tourism line. Sounds depressing!! But I didn't give up hope. Now that I'm a SAHM (Stay At Home Mum), I slowly fulfill my arts dream through scrapbooking. And I'm planning to go to art studios to learn western painting and eventually to NAFA. So, please don't give up on your dream even when fate has dealt you a blow.

Designer Spotlight - Featuring Sarah!

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

We have another fabulous Designer to share with you this week... Sarah! Sarah is talented in everything she does but her layouts make me swoon! She has an amazing eye for colors, layers and patterns!

5 Fun Facts about Sarah...

1.  When I was a child I lived in Nigeria and had a pet monkey

2.  I love to travel – my favourite destination is the USA

3.  I am scared of the dark

4.  When I was little I dreamed of having 6 children – 3 of each. My dream came true – with a little difference in the gender ratio  (I have 2 daughters and 4 sons).

5.  My Ultimate scrappy dream is to be on the Design Team for October Afternoon

More About Sarah....

I thought that it would be fun to share with you how I first became interested in this amazing hobby/lifestyle. Around 7 years ago my son was got a bad infection in his leg and was hospitalised for quite a long time. Of course hospital is not the most exciting place for a 9-year old boy (or his mother) and I was looking for something that we could do together to help pass the long hours. One of the nurses handed me a pile of old magazines to read and somewhere in the middle was a copy of ‘Scrapbooking Memories’. As I turned the pages I got more and more excited. Right there and then my obsession was created. Over the next week Adam (with a little help from me) made an album of his hospital experience. We had so much fun working on it together and I treasure that little book to this day.
Now, more than 7 years later, I scrap almost every day, I am on several design teams  have been published many times at home and overseas.  I still love this craft and cannot imagine life now without my photographs and memories.  Scrapping has become more than a hobby for me it is a lifestyle.

Designer Spotlight Featuring Anita!

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

I am thrilled to introduce today's Designer in the Spotlight... Anita! She is an amazing scrapbooker and card maker and her off the page projects are always so stunning and full of details! We are so happy to have her on our team here at Frosted Designs!

5 Fun Facts about Anita...

  • I have a Master's Degree in Aeronautical Engineering but I have never worked in that field. I stayed home with my girls instead.
  • I am an avid gardener, collect heirloom roses and irises, and have been known to stop on the side of the road to dig up plants. Nothing is more soothing to me than to go into the yard and do a little digging.
  • I am a baker and I designed and decorated wedding cakes for almost 20 years. Every year at Christmas time I bake hundreds (sometimes almost a thousand) of cookies and give away to my family and friends. It is a huge days long production here in the house.
  • I have played the piano pretty much all my life, but never learned to read music! I play by ear. Learning to read music and play the "real way" are on my bucket list.
  • I love to travel. One of my favorite trips was to Guatemala, I hiked to the top of an active volcano and got to stand in the clouds. It was pretty amazing. On my list of places to see - Easter Island for the migration of the Red Crabs, The Galapagos Islands, and I want to go island hopping through the Greek Isles with just a back pack and no itinerary.

More About Anita....
I am married to a great guy for almost 25 years now, we have two beautiful daughters, two dogs and three furry cats. I am a SAHM who went back to work for a little while when my daughter was in college, but I decided it wasn't for me and came back home to scrapbook and work on my house and yard. These days I keep busy doing design work for several manufacturers, the local store and a couple of challenge blogs. I have some serious issues with paper, buttons, ribbon, brads,,,,, so this art is perfect for me!

Designer Spotlight Featuring Sassy!

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Today, I am excited to share with you a designer who lives up to her name... Sassy! She is an amazingly talented lady and every project she makes is stunning! We love Sassy so much that we recently asked her to return to our Design Team here at Frosted Designs!

5 Fun Facts about Sassy...

Chicken fat grosses me out.  Every bit of it needs to be cut off before cooking and I will not order chicken out or eat it at anyone's house.

Mayonaisse or Miracle Whip?  Definitely Miracle Whip!
I am a reality tv junkie.
My favorite vacation spot besides home is the North Shore.
I do not like cartoons or animated movies.

More About Sassy....

My life consists of my family.  Some people may find this boring but I live to spend time with my daughter Sarah, son Ryan, and husband Jason.  For me a night at home cuddled up or watching a favorite show with Jason or having a giggle fest with Sarah over some silly little thing truly makes me happy.  You've heard the line "You complete me?" Well as corny as it sounds my husband and I truly do complete each other.  We frequently say that we are each others balance.  In some ways we couldn't be more different and yet it's those differences that allow us to balance one another out.  We finish sentences for each other and love eachother more than any two people I know.

I couldn't be more excited to introduce today's designer... Lydia! She has been part of the Frosted Designs family for a while now and we are so blessed to have her here to share her talents with us each week! Her layouts are amazing and her home decor items are just gorgeous!

5 Fun Facts about Lydia...

2.  No matter how hot the weather, I have to have covers on me but love to have my feet out even if its freezing outside!

3.  I love to junk shop!  Its probably my favorite kind of shopping.

4.  Storage Wars on A&E is my favorite show.  I would love to dig through those lockers and see what treasures were there.

5.  I love to do home projects such as painting and decorating. My mom used to joke with me that my rooms were 11 3/4 x 11 3/4 instead of 12x12 because of all the layers of paint on the walls.  I like to switch it up!

More About Lydia....

I love being on the Frosted Designs team.  I have been with the FD family for nearly 2 years (February will be my 2 year anniversary!) Scrapbooking has always been a passion of mine.  I had a huge sticker collection when I was a little girl and have always been addicted to paper, pens, colors, and paints.  I enjoy branching out with creating canvas, home decor, and playing with mixed medias.  Photography is my other passion and you can often find me behind my camera.  My three boys (almost 13, 11, and 9) are my favorite subjects along with nature especially close ups of flowers and plants.  I've had both my photos and scrapbook work published in newspapers and magazines.

More About Lori....

I have been scrapbooking and creating ART since I was very young.  My favorite "toys" as a child were my Spiro-graph and my Spin Art.  I was always interested in using unconventional items in my art projects and have been known as the "Frugal Scrapper" for years.  I've taught scrapbooking, card making and altered art classes for over 15 years.
Most recently, I've become obsessed with Mixed Media art.  I love texture and love finding unconventional items to add to my mixed media canvases.  I have admired Mixed Media/Altered Art and love to find all of the "hidden treasures" in each piece.
I have been with Frosted Designs for less than a year, and have been SO IMPRESSED with the talent on the design team.  I'm also thrilled to be part of such a beautiful group of genuinely kind women who LOVE to create!

Designer Spotlight Featuring Teresa!

Tuesday, November 6, 2012

We have the best Design Team at Frosted Designs and I love to take every chance I can to show each of them off! Today is Teresa's turn!

5 fun facts about Teresa....

1. At age 52 I graduated at the top of my class and received my Associates Degree

2. I am very blessed that my entire immediate family lives within 10 miles of me

3. Our home is solar powered

4. My art studio is in the Master Bedroom of our home (that's one awesome husband!)

5. "Sandy" is a big name in my life. My daughter's name is Sandy, my bosses name is Sandy, my friend's name is Sandy, and I was the primary caregiver for three years of my Aunt Sandy before she passed away! And now I can say that I survived Hurricane Sandy! - That's a lot of Sandy's!

More About Teresa....

I have been scrapbooking my whole life. As a young girl I saved match books, post cards, newspaper articles, and napkins to paste in scrapbooks. Cute images cut from magazines came next. I was thrilled when "magnetic" photo albums came out so that I could save tidbits of ephemera with my pictures instead of just sliding them in to sleeves. Unfortunately, we now know that that was not the best idea for photographs! When my daughter told me in high school that she wanted to start a scrapbook I bought a little plastic box. In it I put a pair of fancy edged scissors, a glue stick, and a corner punch. I thought we were all set!!!!! In the boom of scrapbooking there were multiple local scrapbooking stores close by and I patronized every one of them. All of the product was so pretty and so unique I had to buy it because, surely, nothing so amazing would ever be available again! Now I have an entire room of product to use up and to share! I primarily scrapbook in 12x12 format and mini books and have recently become very interested in mixed media art on canvas. I hope you'll take a few minutes to poke around my blog, please leave me a comment so I can visit you back!

Here are some of Teresa's Favorite Projects....

I love Teresa's work! Thank you for sharing more about yourself with us today, Teresa!

Be sure to come back Friday! It is the start of our Fall Blog Hop and we would love to see you hop along! There will be a lot of prizes to be won... come play!!
