Sundays with Sandee - a little advice

Sunday, April 27, 2014

We can all use a little advice now and then, right? How about some advice from a mountain? It's rock solid....yep....pun intended! :)

Be uplifting
Make new trails
Stand tall
Enjoy the view
Be solid as a rock
Live large

Now I know I am such a ditz sometimes, I totally forgot to mention in the video the importance of going back over your lettering in order to make it stand out, so let me take a moment to discuss that. I first went over the penciled letters with my Pigma Magna Sensei pens, and after it had dried I erased all pencil marks. Then I colored in the areas with my inks, and sometimes when you color in over your pen, it can dull it. Now while there is nothing wrong with it, I can also see little flaws and areas of lettering that aren't as defined as I need this to be.

Once everything is nice and dry, I go back over the letters again with my Sakura Glaze pen to really trim everything up and make them pop. Can you tell the difference between this picture and the one above it? The one above looks nice enough but the one below it really stands out better.

I hope you enjoy my video discussing the typography style I used along with the bar lettering.

Please share with us your work over on the Frosted Designs Face Book page. I love seeing the different ways people use their lettering, whether on a lay out, card or journal page, it's all fun!

Very Pretty Sandee! I like how you incorporated scrapbook paper and the elements already there into the piece.
