Show Me Sunday - A Tutorial By Kelly!

I am a scrapbooker. I generally do not make cards, I just scrapbook. Somehow, I have accumulated a TON of stamps, and until recently, they were very nice to look at, but rarely did they get used. I have made a real effort to use my stamps on my scrapbook pages, and would love to share with you some fun ways to do that! When making layouts, my process often goes like this:
1.Choose photos
2.Choose patterned paper
3. Uh-oh...now how do I embellish this???
I recently have been often turning to my stamp collection to solve this problem. In this post I am going to show you how to make a fun banner, a title, "patterned paper", and finishing touch embellishments for a layout, using one stamp set!
The stamps I chose were these fun doily stamps I recently purchased from Stampin Up! I really had no idea what I was going to do with them, I just thought they were so pretty!

I started out with the smallest doily, and stamped on pink cardstock, using a similar color ink, multiple times. I then used a circle punch and punched the shapes out.

I repeated this on the green cardstock. I then used the large doily stamp on blue cardstock, and punched circles out of that.
.
I took the punched shapes and folded them in half, and strung them on some twine, to make a fun banner:
I found a stamp that I had picked up at Michael's for $1, to use for my title. I stamped it on the pink cardstock, layered it over the blue, and added some doily stamping for a cute title card.

Then, I used all of the doily stamps, and randomly stamped all over the green cardstock:
It was then time to put my layout together. I added a few more pieces of cardstock to layer behind the green, and I used the leftover punched circles from my banner to add some finishing touches to the left side. Add a favorite photo, and some journaling, and here is what I came up with:

So, next time you go to make a layout, and are stumped on how to embellish it, look at your stamps for new ideas!

Like the idea of using the stamps this way. Espcially like the banner & the bead embellishing along with the cute photo. I recently posted using a non-background stamp to make a background post on my blog (used a cloud stamp) with Hot Air Balloon photos that you can see on my blog.

Thank you for this post! I have been wanting to get into stamping with my scrapping projects but have not done it yet. Now thanks to your post today, I can make my first banner on a project and have an idea to start with on using stamps!
