Hi Everyone! I am excited to share a fun tutorial with you, today, for Show Me Sunday!! A while back, one of my friends who is a Stamping' Up demonstrator, showed me a fun technique for creating patterned paper. I wanted to give it a try and make some paper to use on a layout. Here's how I did it:
You will need the following supplies:
Shaving Cream; Alcohol Inks or Re-Inker; Paper Plate; White Cardstock; Toothpicks; Paper Towels
1. Begin by covering your paper plate with the Shaving Cream:
2. Drop Alcohol Ink or Re-Inker into the Shaving Cream. Choose at least 3 different colors of ink, for more of a visual contrast:
3. Use your toothpick to swirl the Ink in a random pattern. (The Alcohol Inks dry a little faster than the Re-Inkers, so don't wait too long in between adding your ink and swirling it.):
4. You can add more Ink to the Shaving Cream after your first swirl, if you feel you need more coverage:
5. Lay your paper down over the Shaving Cream and press. You can pick it up and turn it to re-press several times, just to make sure you have good coverage on the paper:
6. Once you are sure your paper is covered, remove it and use several paper towels to wipe all of the Shaving Cream from the paper:
7. Your end result should come out looking like this:
Once my paper was dry, I used it to create this layout:
I hope I have inspired you to try your hand at making your own patterned paper! This would also be a fun project to do with your children...it's hands-on and messy, so the kids would definitely love that!! And thanks for letting me share with you this week!!

Cool idea! I love your finished pieces--this would be perfect for aquarium pictures. I just wonder if the paper is still acid free after using the shaving cream?
