SHOW ME SUNDAY BY: Nanne

I scrap a lot and some times I need to try to make a little something else just to keep motivated.. I absolutely love everything rustic and hand made..the older it looks, the more I like it.. Living in Finland, I've noticed that a lot of the stores here don't carry the types of home decor that I like and so, I've been making my own lately..
As I made these blocks I thought that maybe someone else would like to make their own decor as well and so I came up with this quick and really easy tutorial.. but before you go any further, just letting you know I am not a carpenter by profession..LOL

So for the supplies you will need:
wood
white and black paint
paint brush
modge podge
Cricut to cut your font
or font stickers
If you are one of the lucky ones and you can find 2"x2" wooden blocks at your local craft store, by all means buy those and save yourself the headache of having to cut them yourself.. I had a hell of a time sawing these and trust me when I say, none of them are cut even..LOL you will see it in the last photo of the finished product..LOL

Now for the first step:

Paint all of your wood black.. I used just simple flat black craft paint and a paint brush... let completely dry, shouldn't take too long..

Once the black paint is completely dry, paint them White.. give it two coats !!
While you are waiting for the paint to get tacky, cut your font with your cricut or use stickers..

then, once the paint is a bit tacky, add your letters and then modge podge over them.
Once I had done all of these steps, I realized I had accidentally added the word Family to the long block and had to re-do it... It was suppose to say FRIENDS.. doh, on my part!!
once the paint has at this point completely dried, take your Sand paper tool and sandpaper the edges and corners.. depending on how distressed you prefer them, you want to remove some of the white paint showing off the black underneath..
and so, here are the finished blocks..
.
as you can see, the top once aren't too straight..LOL but it does't matter.. But not as crooked as they seem..I'll just tell everyone they are suppose to look like that...LOL

Well ladies.. I certainly hope you can get some inspiration from this tutorial and make a little something of your own... for example, these can be covered with paper and photos as well..
thank you all so much stopping by today..
Hugs

I love it! I wonder if I could substitute another color paint for the black, say to match my kitchen...do you think it would work? Thanks!
