Show Me Sunday - A Tutorial By Angela

Monday, November 22, 2010

With Thanksgiving just days away, it is a good time to think not only what we are thankful for, but WHO we are thankful for! If you are looking for a quick and gorgeous gift to let someone know you appreciate them, try this creative idea from Angela....
A Sneak :0)

Gather your supplies:

3 pieces of good quality co-ordinating  patterned paper
matching ribbon
various punches/nesties fro decoration
paper trimmer
scoring tool
double-sided tape

Decide on your main paper and cut to 24.5 cm X 22.5 cm

Sorry I have only worked in cm for this project (should be easy to convert though)

Punch a scalloped edge along the LONGEST side

Score 1.5 CM along the bottom of the longest side (opposite to scalloped edge)

Turn paper around so scalloped edge faces the top and score at:
1.5 cm
11.5 cm
13 cm
23 cm

BE CAREFUL not to score TOO heavily!! Just light enough to fold!

Cut co-ordinating patterned paper 8.5 cm x 25 cm
And a second piece 7.5 x 25 cm.
Score at
1.5 cm
11.5 cm
13 cm
23.5 cm

stamp with versa mark any image you like.
Put aside for later.

Cut along bottom score marks as shown below

Attach double sided tape as shown. Bottom left on INSIDE TAB, bottom right on OUTSIDE TAB and right INSIDE TAB.

attach left and middle tabs together and adhere to left bottom. Fold over to make box, making sure all tabs are tucked in.

attach your wrap around to the box.  I have learned from experience to slide the wrap around over the box rather than attach, as it sort of buckles!

Use punches or Nestabilities, stamps and ribbon to decorate your box in whatever theme you like.

Using a slot punch (mine is Stampin Up) punch two holes at the top of the box.

Thread ribbon through the two holes as shown below.

These measurements are for a 200g block of chocolate
Push the chocolate into the box.  This will let you know how much ribbon you will need.

Tie a little knot at the top of the chocolate to secure.

leave a little 2-3 cm at the end of the knot to use as a tab.

And VOILA!!! You can decorate to suit any theme….. Christmas, Easter or just even a thank you gift.  A pretty inexpensive way to give someone a present.

Now... it's your turn! Let someone know how much you appreciate them!
