Hi ladies and gents...and yes, I say gents because my husband will occasionally scrap with me and my son has just started actively scrappin'!! My name is Joni and I live in Sunny (and HOT) Phoenix Arizona with my husband of 18 years and my 6 year old son, Joseph.
I've been scrapbooking since 2001 when I was trying to preserve the memory of a lost pet. I was really glad that I was already scrappin' when Joseph was born in 2003. I have been on several Design Teams in the past and have been honored to Guest Design & be featured on several blogs. I've also placed in a few contests here and there, including CK Conventions and CreativeXpress. I also love all the friends I have made (and continute to make) through this wonderful hobby of ours. But the real reason I scrap always remains to capture memories for my son and his family and because I LOVE the creative process. I guess I should mention that I like to shop too, so scrapping covers a lot of bases!
This week's challenge is to "use something from around the house" as an embellishment. Well, I jumped at this one because I'm always "upcycling". Whenever I'm "cleaning out" stuff that Joseph has "outgrown", I try to figure if I can use it somehow. Sometimes yes and sometimes I'm just hoarding...lol!! Anyway, I use old puzzle pieces, games, books, anything that my imagination can turn into something on a page. So, I'm actually going to show a couple projects this week. You can find more details about these projects and others I have done on my blog by clicking HERE!
This is using an old card game called PIT... (I photo'd the CORN card next to my layout so you can see how I altered it and used it on my layout).
And my husband brought home these flyers for some event because Joseph LOVES monkeys. So, I turned one into a bookmark for him by covering it with a little pp & punched cirles w/brad accents.
And one last layout where I upcyled a piece of an old puzzle (one with those HUGE pieces).
Ok, so now go through you stuff and find something fun that is "not typically" a scrapbook item and get it on a layout or card or any other project and let us see it....!!!
You could win this prize... All you have to do is participate in a challenge sometime during the month of June and become a follower to be entered to win!! The more projects you link, the more chances you have to win!! *Projects must be posted and linked on or after June 4th and before noon EST on July 1st to be eligible to win.
Now check out what the rest of the design team did for you this week!!
Debbie used the corrugated holder from a coffee cup from 7-11 for "Wake Up" and also cut out the word coffee from it for her title. She also used a small scrap of left over fabric on the bottom of the layout.
Erika took it a little more literally. She used a clipboard to make an assignment board.
she used the transparancey from the paper crafting kit and it works great when you use any dry erase marker. She included two photos one with it clean and the other with this weeks assignment written on it!
Barb used the tops off of her ribbon spools to make most of the circles on the layout. After she painted them, she embossed them and inked them. She then used the spool itself and another lid to dip in paint and make some black circles on the layout. The clear circles came from a piece of packaging. The silver line is duct tape that was run through the Cuttlebug to get the star design!! The wire used for the name was taken from a notebook that was being thrown away. You may also notice the black twisty tie in the bottom right corner!!
Diana used an old box that she had laying around in her scraproom and turned it into a card box. Actually it was a Christmas card box before, so she just changed the look.
Thank you for taking time to stop by our blog and check out all of these wonderful projects by the design team!! We would love to see you play along with us... be sure to link up your project for a chance to win the June prize!!
