Guest Designer Stephanie!

Monday, April 13, 2015

We are so excited to introduce our Guest Designer Stephanie! She has created the cutest projects just in time for Teacher Appreciation Gifts!! Thank you Stephanie for sharing your talent with us!

Be sure to leave Stephanie some blog love and visit her blog to see all the other amazing projects she has created!

Hello!  My name is Stephanie Johnson and am over to moon to be a Guest Designer here at Frosted Designs!  By day, I teach Eighth Grade American History.  While I love my job dearly, I need the creative release that scrapbooking and paper art provides in order to keep my sanity. With this in mind, for this project, I was inspired by my job and decided to create projects appropriate for Teacher Appreciation Week which occurs May 4-8, 2015.

I decided to create three Teacher Appreciation gifts appropriate for any teacher and any grade level.  Having just taught about western expansion, I became inspired by all things "cowboy" and decided to use a "western" theme for my projects.  For the first project, I created a "wanted" scrapbook photo frame to feature a class picture.  I used a picture of my students posing in front of the Supreme Court building during our annual trip to Washington DC.  For the next project, I created a "pocket" for a gift card.  I decided to make the pocket look like something a sheriff would wear in the Wild West.  My final project was a mason jar filled with trail mix.  To "westernize" this project, I cut a handkerchief into a square to cover the jar, and created a tag and attached it to the jar using jute.  The trail mix is simply a combination of M&M's, raisins, and peanuts.  Of all the projects, this one was the easiest to make.  (And probably the most appreciated by a teacher; trust me!)

I hope you enjoy looking at my projects and feel free to check out my blog at sthom97093.blogspot.com

Altered Frame with this Month's "Out of the Blue" Kit!!!!

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

Hello again crafters!!!  It's Brandi popping in with an altered frame using this month's beautiful kit!

Here's a look at the frame:

As most of you know, my mother passed away last month which has been the cause for my absence over the past few weeks.  I've decided to make some tribute frames for members of our family so I'm sure you'll be seeing her quite a bit in the upcoming months ;-)

I started by covering the frame with one of the beautiful papers from the kits after I painted the simple wooden frame white (Picked up the frame for $1.00 at my local craft store).  I added in my photo, covering it using the silver doily overlay from the add on kit!

I added flowers and embellies from the kit in adjacent corners to add some pizzazz!

I used some of the Ranger blue mist from a previous kit to dye my trim from this kit blue, then added it across the bottom for contrast against the white background!

I finished with a number of the wooden embellishments that were inked using distress ink, then I added a bit of the crackle accents from the kit for added shine!

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)
