Are you up for a color challenge?

Thursday, June 24, 2010

Hello and welcome back to Frosted Designs! I'm Kim and I'll be your hostess this week! I am an avid scrapbooker, actually I call myself an addict! I have been scrapbooking for 1o years now. My obsession all began with the birth of my youngest niece, Ashlea. I live in beautiful Kentucky with my honeybee, Ben. We've been married for 13 years and together, we have 6 nieces and nephews who range in age from 5-21! So, I have plenty of inspiration for my pages.

In addition to designing for Frosted Designs, I am a proud co-design team leader at Practical Scrappers, a Lucky Girl dt member, one of the sistah's at The Sisterhood, design for Creations by Penny, and founder and Maven at Sketches in Thyme. I love to create layouts that my family will cherish long after I'm gone. In my real life, I am a third grade teacher who is enjoying this summer break! You can find out more about me by visiting my blog HERE!!

This week's challenge is a color challenge. We want to see you put orange, yellow, turquoise, and green together. These colors are just perfect for summertime photos!!! Don't you agree?

For my layout, I chose to use this yummy Fancy Pants dp. It already had the orange, yellow, green and turquoise in it! I knew I wanted to use these photos of my little kids from two summers ago, climbing trees for this one.

Would you like to win this prize?!!

All you have to do is participate in a challenge sometime during the month of June and become a follower to be entered to win!! The more projects you link, the more chances you have to win!! *Projects must be posted and linked on or after June 4th and before noon EST on July 1st to be eligible to win.

Now check out what the rest of the design team did for you this week!!

Pat used all Bo-Bunny papers to create this beautiful summer layout!!!

Cassie used a variety of patterned papers to create the background for her lovely pictures!!!

Jessica used a large flower with smaller flowers as a fun summer accent on her layout!!

Diana found a variety of patterned papers that used the color combination in this weeks challenge. Putting them all together made a fabulous background to showcase her photo!!

We just can't help sharing with you what Joni said when she found out about this challenge.... "My first thought was.... Who came up with these colors? Then as I was staring at my WeRMemory Keepers paper, I kinda went "duh"... these match perfectly (and no one said they had to be the ONLY colors we use)!!"

The paper line is called 72 & Sunny and honestly, that'd be cold for Joni!!  It's 102 in Phoenix everyday now & it was 92 the day she took that picture during the.first week of June.

To quote Joni again.... "Thanks to whoever's idea these colors were for reminding me to keep my mind open and thanks to WeRMemory Keepers for having those colors on their papers.  Now, I'd almost call this cheating, since I didn't really put the colors together myself.   So I added the brads as the butterfly path so I felt better about that...and since I like butterfly's to have "flight paths" ...lol!!"

Now... we would love to see what all you can do with this challenge!!! Remember... this is the last week to submit a project for the June Prize Package! On Thursday evening we will announce the winner!!!

What Do You Have Around Your House?!!

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Hi ladies and gents...and yes, I say gents because my husband will occasionally scrap with me and my son has just started actively scrappin'!! My name is Joni and I live in Sunny (and HOT) Phoenix Arizona with my husband of 18 years and my 6 year old son, Joseph.

I've been scrapbooking since 2001 when I was trying to preserve the memory of a lost pet. I was really glad that I was already scrappin' when Joseph was born in 2003. I have been on several Design Teams in the past and have been honored to Guest Design & be featured on several blogs. I've also placed in a few contests here and there, including CK Conventions and CreativeXpress. I also love all the friends I have made (and continute to make) through this wonderful hobby of ours. But the real reason I scrap always remains to capture memories for my son and his family and because I LOVE the creative process. I guess I should mention that I like to shop too, so scrapping covers a lot of bases!

This week's challenge is to "use something from around the house" as an embellishment. Well, I jumped at this one because I'm always "upcycling". Whenever I'm "cleaning out" stuff that Joseph has "outgrown", I try to figure if I can use it somehow. Sometimes yes and sometimes I'm just hoarding...lol!! Anyway, I use old puzzle pieces, games, books, anything that my imagination can turn into something on a page. So, I'm actually going to show a couple projects this week. You can find more details about these projects and others I have done on my blog by clicking HERE!

This is using an old card game called PIT... (I photo'd the CORN card next to my layout so you can see how I altered it and used it on my layout).

And my husband brought home these flyers for some event because Joseph LOVES monkeys. So, I turned one into a bookmark for him by covering it with a little pp & punched cirles w/brad accents.

And one last layout where I upcyled a piece of an old puzzle (one with those HUGE pieces).

Ok, so now go through you stuff and find something fun that is "not typically" a scrapbook item and get it on a layout or card or any other project and let us see it....!!!

You could win this prize...

Debbie used the corrugated holder from a coffee cup from 7-11 for "Wake Up" and also cut out the word coffee from it for her title. She also used a small scrap of left over fabric on the bottom of the layout.

Erika took it a little more literally. She used a clipboard to make an assignment board.
she used the transparancey from the paper crafting kit and it works great when you use any dry erase marker. She included two photos one with it clean and the other with this weeks assignment written on it!

Barb used the tops off of her ribbon spools to make most of the circles on the layout. After she painted them, she embossed them and inked them. She then used the spool itself and another lid to dip in paint and make some  black circles on the layout. The clear circles came from a piece of packaging. The silver line is duct tape that was run through the Cuttlebug to get the star design!!  The wire used for the name was taken from a notebook that was being thrown away. You may also notice the black twisty tie in the bottom right corner!!

Diana used an old box that she had laying around in her scraproom and turned it into a card box. Actually it was a Christmas card box before, so she just changed the look.

Thank you for taking time to stop by our blog and check out all of these wonderful projects by the design team!! We would love to see you play along with us... be sure to link up your project for a chance to win the June prize!!

TGIF and you know what that means.

Thursday, June 10, 2010

Hi everyone! My name is Diana (aka Scrapimami) and I am a scrapaholic!!! I have been married to Stan for 8 years. We have a blended family of 7 kids yours (Beau 30, Lauren 29, Justin(Bucky) 25 and Tyler 18) Mine, (Daniel 16, Monica 13) and Ours, (Natalie 5) the 4 youngest live at home Beau and Justin live in Costa Rica and Lauren lives in Boca Raton FL. We are all very close and I love to scrap our family vacations.

I have been scrapping for over 7 years but I also use to scrap when I was in High School and have some of those books very different to the way we scrap now. This year I got my first DT assignment here at Frosted Design, so I have a little special place in my heart for FD. I also Design for 2 other sites, have done a few GT and have been published 2 times, that was very exciting.

Here is our challenge for this month. Glitter, glitter and more glitter I love sparkly stuff, although I have never really like playing with actual glitter, I love to buy pre-glitter materials. I know everyone has either the actual glitter bottles/jars, stickles, pre-glittered pages or chipboards, what ever glittery medium you have take it out and play with it.
Remember to post your projects here. WHY!!!! Because you have the chance to win this amazing PRIZE!!!!! Here is a link to my Scrappy Blog

Here is what you need to do to win this Amazing prize!!!
You need to become a follower and play along!!!  Each time you enter a project, you earn a chance to win June's prize pack!! The more challenges you enter, the more chances you have to win! At the end of the month we will do a random draw from all the entries to determine a winner!! What are you waiting for?!! Get to your scrap rooms and start creating!!!!

Here is Mine, the title and the little bird are glitter accents.

Products used: Little Yellow Bike-decorative edge cardstock, Clothesline-Sunny Day Dot, Stickers, and flowers, Tattered Angels - Blue Skies, Lemon Meringue, Garden Fairy and Jack O'lanter, American Crafts - Dear Lizzy chipboard Thickers, and Prima Marketing swirl.

Here are the LO's from our Amazing group of Designers

PAT

JESSICA

Jessica used several glitter elements, including Crystal Stickles to accent her printed transparency frame and used a glittered flower and glittered chipboard alphabet stickers for her layout.

KIM

Kim used some glitter infused paper, sugar coated alpha's for the title, and her gold ribbon is coated with glitter as well.

JONI

Everything on this layout is Basic Grey Lime Rickey except for the glitter transparancy which is from Fancy Pants.  This worked really well because there was a little blonde girl behind my son that I couldn't crop out of the photo, so the glittery transparancy flowers covered her up nicely.

CASSIE

Cassie used glitter on her chipboard letters to add a little extra sparkle to her card!

BARB

Barb used everything glittery she could find... glitter glue, glitter paper, glitter ribbon!!

Buttons Challenge

Thursday, June 3, 2010

Welcome to the New FROSTED DESIGNS!! We have made a few changes around here.... We are going to give you the chance to meet each of our designers each week, we are going to continue to challenge you to use up items you already have around your craft room in creative ways, and we are going to offer monthly prizes!!  We hope you like what you see and will come back to play along with us each week!!

Hi everyone!! My name is Barb (aka Crafty Girl) and I love everything about scrapbooking!! I have the most amazing husband and four children (20, 19, 17, & 8) who are the stars of my pages!! I started scrapbooking when my oldest daughter was an infant... so that would be 20 years ago!! It is hard to believe I have been doing it this long and how much scrapbooking has changed over the years! I prefer to do scrapbook pages over cards... for some reason I find them much more difficult!! I am currently on 4 design teams and have a guest design team spot coming up later in June!! All of this keeps me very busy!! My family is planning on making a big move this summer (or whenever the house sells!) from Indiana to Texas! We are very excited to live in a new city and discover all that Dallas has to offer!! You can find out more about me and some of my layouts by visiting my blog HERE!!

So.... here is the challenge I have picked for you this week!!! It's all about BUTTONS!!!! We all have them laying around in drawers, jars and baskets!!! Now it is time to get them out and put them to use!!! You can use as many (or little) as you would like! And then... be sure to post your project here!!! Why you ask?!!

You could win a prize package for becoming a follower and playing along!!! Each time you enter a project, you earn a chance to win June's prize pack!! The more challenges you enter, the more chances you have to win! At the end of the month we will do a random draw from all the entries to determine a winner!! What are you waiting for?!! Get to your scrap rooms and start creating!!!!

Here is my layout using buttons along with the rest of the design team!!

Barb used buttons as the centers to all of her flowers... she even layered a few. The red accents at the botttom of her page are also buttons.

Joni used a couple regular buttons and 4 "ribbon" buttons (ribbon slides) on her layout featuring Little Yellow Bicycle's Vita Bella line. Before she put her stash of papers away...she also made 2 cards (one with buttons, so she's sharing a second project!!)

Cassie used buttons to add some fun accents to her card. She also used the theme to inspire the sentiment!!

Debbie used buttons within buttons as the centers of the flowers on this cute strawberry chipboard by Cosmo Cricket.

Erika used the buttons as a way to bring her colors all together. She enjoyed finding buttons that worked well with her new jillibean soup letters. This is a more whimsical layout than she usually does.. but she thought that it was fun!!!!

Diana used coordinating buttons to add interest to the edge of  her large circle. She also used buttons for the centers of her flowers!

Now that you have seen what our design team did with the buttons, it's your turn!! Remember, the more times you enter, the better your chances to win the June Prize package!!
