Celebrating Our Graduate!

Friday, May 2, 2014

Happy Friday everyone! I had a few quite hours where I had the house completely to myself so I took advantage of that and started to play with some of the messy products sitting on my desk! I added in some of the items from Frosted Designs Kits and this is what I created!

Last May my daughter graduated from Evangel University and we couldn't be more proud! Even though the weather wasn't very Spring-like that day, I decided to make a Spring-Like layout!  :)

I had a lot of fun getting a little messy on this one! I started by spraying a little Dylusions Ink (Lemon Zest) on the background paper (which was in the Love is in the Air  kit). I then used my Koi Water Brush along with the Watercolor Crayons to add a little orange to the background. I love the water color look! Finally, I used the stencil (from the November Mixed Media Kit) and some Gelatos to create the blue circles!

The patterned papers I layered behind the photo were from the Shades of Spring Kit. I outlined the edges of the patterned paper and scalloped frame on the photo with the Black Gelly Roll Pen! It is perfect for this! I LOVE the black chevron Trendy Tape from Queen & Co so I added that in a few places! Do you like the Studio Calico polaroid die cut? It is from the Sea Breeze Kit! Don't you love it when you have bits and pieces left from kits that you can use like this?!  :)

Finally I added a few extras down in the corner of the layout! I can't get enough of the Maya Road Vintage Metal Trinkets!

Tomorrow is National Scrapbooking Day! I hope you get some time to play and create! If you need supplies, you might want to check out the Sale going on in the Frosted Designs Store!

Homespun Home Decor with Brandi!

Saturday, April 26, 2014

Hello again my crafty friends!!!  I'm up on the blog today to share with you some fabulous projects using the Simple Stories "Homespun" Collection!!!

First, I have to say that I am in love with this collection!!!  I've always been a fan of Simple Stories but this collection totally rocks!!!!  Before I received it in the mail I was already plotting on all the projects I was going to make with it!!!

I started with a simple altered frame.  Here's a look:

Isn't it adorable?!?  You really can't go wrong with these papers!!!  From the patterns, to the chipboard, cut-outs and die-cuts, you can seriously make a ton of projects!!!

I started with a basic frame and used some mod podge to adhere the red paper as my base.  I added one of the sticker borders that's included, cutting only the length I needed to cover the frame!

Then I just embellished away!!!  I added on some chipboard pieces, layering some of them for added detail, some stickers, and a tiny banner!

I finished the frame with this adorable piece, adding a small bow and tiny resin flower!

Next on the list...  A wall hanging!!!
First, I have to tell you a little story.  I have this wall hanging in my house, that has this quote on it (almost verbatim!).  One of my very good friends mentioned previously that she loved it!!!  When she went to purchase one, they were all sold out.  So when I saw this quote in this collection, I knew exactly what I was going to do!
Here's a look at what I came up with:

See how perfect this is for home decor?!?  Love it!!!
I kept this one pretty simple.  I started with one of the pattern papers from the set and matted on the quote, using "Walnut Stain" distress ink around the edges.  I applied some red washi tape from the store to the corners of the papers.

I added a couple of stickers and the chipboard bicycle.  I wanted to personalize this for my friend so I used the sticker letters to add her family's name as well!

Since this is going to hang on the wall, I wanted a very sturdy "base".  I started with a piece of 12x12 chipboard and coated it with gesso.  Once dried, I added several layers of red acrylic paint, then adhered the page to the top of it.  I layered all the pieces to a piece of canvas board for a solid piece!

I finished it with a small piece of ribbon, using a staple gun to attach it to the back of the board.

Well gang...  Thanks so much for stopping in and have a LUCKY day :-)

Island Cuties!

Monday, March 31, 2014

Happy Monday! I want to share a project with you that you have already seen! (That doesn't happen too often!) This layout was included in the Friday Challenge Reveal but it has so many great details, I thought I would share it again, this time with close up shots!

I just couldn't help myself… I had to create another layout using the Shades of Spring Kit! Here are my Island Cuties…

I know at first glance, this kit has a lot of flowers but I have to say… there is so much more! The watercolor looking papers are so pretty… love the diamond patterns… I could go on and on! But instead, I want to show you how I created this page….

I started with this sheet of Patterned Paper. I fussy cut the flowers from the backside and then outlined them with the Black Gelly Roll Pen. I then layered the flowers under and over the photos!

My transparency is the "Life is Good" square that I tucked behind some of the flowers. In this kit, there was a white Signo Pen…. LOVE this pen! It actually shows up! I used the pen to create the white dots on the black letters!

And here is one more shot of the flowers. The pink gems are from the Family Blessings Kit (That kit is nearly sold out at a bargain price of $17.50!)

Here is another look at the Shades of Spring Kit! We only have a few left! You can find it in the Frosted Designs Store HERE!

Here are a couple of the other layouts I made using this same kit!

Don't you love it when you can create completely different looks with the same kit?! What are you waiting for?! Get your Shades of Spring Kit before they are gone!
