Sandee gets inky!!

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

I love ink...don't you? Some inks are more versatile than others and the Color Box Mixed Media Inx that you get in your 2013 November Mixed Media Paper Kit is awesome!
Here is a short video explaining the 5 different ways I used them:

Here is my finished piece with all the parts reassembled:

A recap of the ways I used the ink with some close up shots:

1. Using your finger to create shading and contours with ink

2. Embossing with ink

3. Creating a background color and 4. stamping with ink
( the sticker sentiment is from the 2013 October Mixed Media Kit )

5. painting with ink ( my favorite )

And a bonus was using the spray ink to color the lace! I have more fun when I can stretch my products!!
I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and go get inky!

Life is Good - Anita shares a Mixed Media Layout!

Monday, November 18, 2013

Hi everyone! It's Anita here today and I have a
project to share using the fabulous  November Mixed Media Kit!!

I had such a good time playing with this kit!
Loved all the little bits and pieces
that came it in.

Here is my first project from the kit. I have a beautiful gold gilt frame that is needing something to
go in it. It has been hanging on the wall empty for THREE YEARS! It is a 14x14
frame, so I will have to have a mat cut to fit it and then adhere the layout to the mat.

I am so in love with this layout! The papers and embellishments
from the kit are just amazing. I don't use a black background
very often, but I thought it would really set these colors off!
To create my backgound I cut the papers from the Nov Kit into random strips, inked
them and layered them under the large center mat.
For my photos I used three mini canvases and inked them with the Mixed Media inks from the kit. For this larger canvas I added the lace and small flowers from the kit to embellish it.
The two smaller canvases have just enough room for the photos! The tags are embellished using the stencil and ink from the kit. (See below)
Are these chippie hearts amazing or what? I added paper flowers and the rhinestones from the kit to my cluster as well.
To color my tags, I applied the ink directly from the ink pad through the stencil on the NON SLICK side.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!
You do NOT want to miss out on this kit!
Barb has a special going in the store tight now
so you can take advantage of that too!

*FREE Dylusions Creative Journal ($24.99 value) with any first time
mixed media paper kit subscription!
Offer expires November 30th.

Have a wonderful week!
Anita

Sandee's Mixed Media Plaque!

Saturday, November 16, 2013

Hi everyone, are you excited to see the 2013 November Mix Media Kit
I know that you kit subscribers are going to absolutely love it! ( It's never to late to join up! )
It's so pretty and full of fun things to play with.

Here's my plaque:

And here is a short slideshow with the details of how I put it together:

a couple of close ups:
I just love how the ink wicked into the flower. I wet the flower first and then touched the edges of the petals with the ink pad, then rubbed some of the ink into the petals for a soft pastel look. This ink really activates with water, it's amazingly juicy!

The stamps are so versatile, I created flowers by adding some doodles! And you will be very pleased with how well the tiny polka dot buttons match the colors of the ink!

And isn't it just perfect when you can use one kit with another? I used the letters from the 2013 October Mix Media Kit for my sentiment!

I cannot wait to see what YOU make and I hope you share your creations ( cards, lay outs or off the page project ) with us on our Frosted Designs Face Book page and don't forget to sign up for the newsletter so you don't miss out on any specials from the Frosted Designs store!!
