Mr. Fox Fun!

Monday, June 30, 2014

Hope everyone is having a fun summer (or whatever season it is in your neck of the woods)....
I know here in sunny Phoenix Arizona, we are having multiple days over 110 degrees and it's consistently over 100 degrees  - yes even at 9pm at night, it is sometimes still over 100 degrees!!

So, I find myself playing a lot in my air-conditioned scraproom...at least the heat outdoors is a great excuse to stay inside and play, right?

So today I wanted to share a couple layouts that I created using the new KaiserCraft Mister Fox Collection and Die-Cuts that recently arrived in the Frosted Designs store.

Orange is one of my favorite colors to scrap with my son, so this collection is right up my alley!!

First, I used some random papers and an old piece of a transparency from my stash that was in my "scrap bin".  I personally think the viewfinder fad is a little strange (even though I do still have my old viewfinder), but I love circle elements, so I love how that circular die-cut looks here.

Another note, there is one sheet of dark orange in this collection that has a floral-y print to it...(not what I would use on my "boy" pages) --- so notice on this first layout, I used it as a thin mat behind the photo and the pattern is not noticeable, only the color.

On this second layout, I again used the orange floral paper, just a thin strip down the center, again for color, but making the pattern unnoticeable.  I used large blocks of 2 of my favorite papers in the collection for each half of the design, and again used viewfinder circular die-cuts and an "Amazing" die-cut (popped-up) for my title element and a couple stickers to finish it off.

On this one, I used a background pattern and added some vertical stripes to accentuate the stripes on the hamburger boxes using paint and the Heidi Swapp Stencil from the "pattern" set.  A few of the die-cuts and stickers to document Sliders...an Ohio tradition.

On this last one, I used a full sheet from the collection for my background along with some smaller prints behind the photo.  I  mixed Modeling paste with some Lindy's Magicals and used a large stencil that's design supported my theme.
A few stickers and die-cuts from the collection along with some jute from my stash to finish off this simple layout.

Sundays with Sandee - ink resist

Sunday, June 29, 2014

Hi everyone!
I am currently having some audio difficulties and as soon as I can figure out how to fix it I will post the video to my quick and easy journal page.
( Crossing fingers and toes!! )

Here is the video, evidently crossing fingers and toes helped out! lol

I love how Sakura Glaze pens act as a resist, so you can paint with your inks right over them without covering up the glossy shine! And speaking of shine, check out the starburst shimmer from Lindy's Stamp Gang, Tiffy Lou Blue on the bluebird! I just love that little bit of sparkle.

Don't forget that you have until the end of the month to be entered for the $30.00 Gift Certificate from Lindy's Stamp Gang, just enter any type of project that has some Limbo lettering on it to the June photo folder over on the Frosted Designs Face Book page...yep, it's that easy!

Do you want to give Lindy's Products a try?! Need to stock up?! Now is the time!

A Sweet Layout with Lisa!

Saturday, June 28, 2014

Good morning!  Lisa  here today to share with you a layout I made using the ever so versatile Simple Stories line Homespun!   This line is so versatile, you can use it for about any type of occasion!  From Spring to Summer to just every day moments!  It also has a baking or cooking theme to it and that is what I captured in my layout:

I have been trying to use up a lot of the 3 x 4 and 4 x 6 cards that many collections come with and sometimes it is hard to know exactly what to do with them.  I have found that they are great go to embellishments, they are simple, inexpensive and they can really dress up your pages!  Here I embellished the "made with love" card by adding the "family recipes" sticker over the top of the apron.  I added pop dots under the sticker to give the card some dimension and used the card as a pocket for a family recipe.  Here is a close up:

These pictures of my friend's daughter with her late grandmother will be a treasured keepsake for her album for years to come!  How wonderful to have this family recipe preserved! The only thing that would have made it better would have been had the late grandmother written the recipe down in her own handwriting instead of typing it. Just something to keep in mind next time you pass along a recipe, remember generations to come will cherish your hand writing no matter how "plain" or not attractive you think it is!  I also as you can see here used a pre-made border that came in the collection, so to dress it up and give it a bit of dimension I added gems and pearls to the center of the flowers!  Using embellishments you have in your stash to dress up the pre-made borders or cards is a great way to not only use up your stash but add dimension to your layouts quickly and easily!   I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer so far and will finds lots of time to get crafty during the rest of the "lazy" days of summer!  Happy crafting!

Project Life on Layouts!

Friday, June 27, 2014

Hi there everyone, today it is my turn to showcase a layout with you :-)  I used the Cameron collection from Elle's studios for this double layout, along with this sketch as inspiration.

A lot of Elle's Studio's products can be used for Project Life layouts.  But today I wanted to showcase their Project Life products on a double layout.  I loved the paper with the bricks on, so I used that as the main pattern paper on the layout and I cut a strip from the journal paper to include on the left hand side of the layout.  There were 3 journal blocks on this sheet of paper - on the first journal block I included the date of the photos; on the second journal block I used a Kaisercraft rub-on which reads "LIFE is not MEASURED by the number of breaths we take but by the number of MOMENTS that take our breath away."

On the third journal block I included another quote which I got from one of the tags in the Cameroon collection which reads "37% Awesome + 12% Smiles + 25% Imagination + 20% Adventure + 6% Dirt = 100% Boy".  The stars at the bottom of the layout I cut from one of the tabbed tags.

The flags and embellishments that I used on the bottom right hand corner of the layout I cut from off-cuts of paper; tabbed tags; frames; and strips from the bottom of the 12x12 papers.

For the saying next to the main photo on the layout I used Chitchat Word Stickers by Tim Holtz and Simple Stories Snap Life Typeset Alphabet.  The saying reads as follows:  "if there is a tomorrow when we are not together there is something you much always remember - even if we are apart I will always be with you."

I really enjoyed creating this layout and working with this paper range and all the elements included in the collection!

All of the products I used is available in the Frosted Designs store.  Don't forget to head on over to the store and fill those shopping carts!!!!

Project Life with Megan!

Thursday, June 26, 2014

Hi everyone! Megan here today to share with you a couple of Project Life spreads I made using my Jade Core Kit and a bunch of fun Elle's Studio and Studio Calico products from the Frosted Designs store! These have got to be two of my most favorite manufacturers to turn to when working on Project Life. Why you may ask? Well, first off, they make lots of relatively "flat" embellishments which are best when working with pocket-style page protectors. Second, they make lots of stuff that is perfect for scrapbooking the "everyday." And third, their products coordinate so well with many of the Project Life Core Kits out there! Are you thinking about starting Project Life and want to get yourself a Core Kit? If so, check out the beautiful Azure Core Kit available in the Frosted Designs Store! I'm thinking I may have to pick up this kit for my 2015 album!

Now, a bit of a disclaimer before I share my pages...I am waaaaay behind in Project Life. But, you know what? That's okay! I keep a Project Life planning journal where I jot down notes each day and then at the end of each week, I write up my weekly recap and create a folder on my computer for each week where I save the recap and any photos I want to include on that week's spread. I also have an expandable file where I keep any mementos I plan to include in my album. So, by staying organized this way, whenever I do have the time to go back and work on Project Life, it makes assembling a week's spread a breeze...no matter how long ago it was.

Now onto my first spread I'm sharing today - Week 2 of 2014. It's a combination of my Jade Core Kit, printables found online and Elle's Studio and Studio Calico goodies from the store. Each of my Project Life spreads contains four key elements: (1) a weekly title card that is consistent in design each week, (2) a weekly recap card created on my computer using the same font, (3) at least one "filler" card that is light on photos and text to allow a place for the eye to rest and (4) several cards from my designated yearly Core kit to keep my album cohesive.
And let's take a closer look at the left side. I am in love with the Project Life photo overlays and used one here on the photo in the upper left. I added the circle die-cut sentiment on top of it for a little something extra. Oh, and those Printshop wood veneer hearts? LOVE. A new favorite product!
And here's the right side of the spread closer up. I really love both the kraft Polaroid frame and the 4x6 "Good Life" tabbed card on this spread. They are both part of the Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces pack. I also really love the quality of the Elle's Studio alpha and number stickers - I picked them up in kraft, teal and dark gray!

Now it's onto my second spread of the day - Week 3 of 2014. Besides the four key elements mentioned above that I include on each Project Life spread, I also have a tendency to gravitate towards "hybrid" scrapping when working on this project. I have a decent collection of digital overlays and such that I'll add to my photos in Photoshop Elements before printing. But, I always try to make sure the majority of my page contains traditional scrapbooking supplies because they have the depth and texture that no digital supply can ever match.
Here's a better look at the left side of my page. How perfect does that "Today" tag from Elle's Studio match my weekly title card? Talk about a happy accident. Again, I am loving the Project Life overlays. Here I added a caption on top of the overlay using the Elle's Studio alpha stickers.
And here's the right side of Week 3. The Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces pack is chock full of some seriously cute, versatile die-cuts! Both the good stuff tabbed hexagon and pink star circle on this page came out of that pack. Oh, and the Studio Calico Thataway plastic stars I used on both sides of this spread are the perfect finishing detail for Project Life - a pop of color and a flat embellishment! The center column of professional photos taken of our house during the selling process really shows where I utilize digital overlays. "Let's Sell This Home!" was added to the photos digitally.

And here are a few closeups from the two spreads...
Wood embellies from the Elle's Studio Good Times wood veneer pack and a partial shot of a Project Life Overlay.

Die-cut tab from the Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces pack and Studio Calico Thataway plastic stars.

4x6 card from the Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Bits & Pieces pack and the Elle's Studio kraft alpha stickers.

Die-cut sentiment from the Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Lil' Snippets Remember sheet and Studio Calico Printshop wood veneer stars.

Working on these two spreads (and my Week 1 spread that I created for the BINGO challenge) have completely revitalized my mojo for Project Life. Boy, I missed working on this project and am so happy that these fun products from Elle's Studio and Studio Calico helped spark the creative bug in me again! If you are a Project Lifer, or would like to be, I highly recommend checking out all the Project Life products in the Frosted Designs store!
