Friday Challenge - Winter Blues

Friday, January 31, 2014

Happy Friday everyone!  Lisa here today to share another Fabulous Friday Challenge!  Our challenge for this Friday is a frosty one using this mood board as inspiration for your project.

Do you have the winter blues? Chase them away with some scrappy time, create a project using this mood board as inspiration for your project. Whether you are inspired by the colors, the pictures or just the overall mood these images and colors portray, get creative and let us know what thing or things from this board inspired you!

For my project, I made a layout combining several lines from the store. I was inspired by the overall Winter theme and the lovely blue hues in creating my layout:

Supplies Used from the Frosted Designs Store:
Echo Park Photo Freedom Volume 2 Paper and Stickers
Fancy Pants Timbergrove Paper and Embellishments
Elle's Studio Everyday Moments Paper and Bits & Pieces
Elle's Studio Love you More

Here is what our Design Team felt inspired to make for this challenge…..

I was inspired by the lower right photo of the mug...reminded me of these photos I had from Christmas.
Products used from the Frosted Designs store:
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Collection kit (paper & stickers)
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Die Cut Ephemera
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Patterned Photo Frames
Fancy Pants Timbergrove - Decorative Bags (brown dot inside frame)

For this challenge I was mostly inspired by the color palette of the board, the dark blues, the tealish greenish blues on the bird and the leaves, the browns from the branches, and the warm pinkish hue from the latern. I also loosely translated other elements such as 'weather' my snow is raindrops and my coffee cup is a photo of my friend's tomatoe-y drink of choice that morning :)
Items used from the Frosted Designs Store are:
Patterned Paper: Fabscraps, Bella Blvd
Heidi Swapp Honeycomb Stencil
Gelatos: 50's Diner pack
Gesso
 Mini Misters
Dylusions Spray: Calypso Teal, White Linen
UmWow Chipboard: Layered Clouds
Prima: Sugar Dots
Stickers: Carte Bella Wildflower Collection.

I was inspired by the grid design and the Winter theme.

Footloose & Fancy Free with Jeaunes!

Hello there, Jeaunes here with a layout I created using the Cut&Paste collection from My Mind's Eye!

I loved the colours of this collection and the fact that it is really such a "boyish" collection!  The pictures in the layout is from Jonathan's Cake Smash for his first birthday.  But as you can see from the expression on his face he was not impressed AT ALL!!!!!!!!!!!  Unlike most children that really dig in and smash that cake, he did not want to have anything to do with it.  Other than a finger lightly touching the cake, and the pulling of the face, there was NO cake smashing!!!!!!!!!!

I loved how I could use the white cardstock and blue patterned paper as the background, but then also include the various patterns on layout, without it being over the top and too much!

As part of the collection, there was Decorative Chipboard buttons.  I used a combination of those as well as one or two buttons I had in my stash. To round them off, I just threaded some white thread through the holes.

When I did the banner under the main photo, I used some of the flags from the collection and the others I made using washi tape.  I finished it off with some bakers twine and brads.

And lastly, for the title I used one of the die-cut stickers and included some hand stitching.

All of the products I used in my layout are available in the Frosted Designs store and then best part is - they are ON SALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  So pop on over to the store and quickly!!!!!!!  The kits are on sale along with other great products.  These include 20% of all Authentique products, including the new Flourish and Suave Lines (Exp. 2-3-14) and all single bottles of Dylusions Spray Inks are 15% off (Exp. 2-3-14)!  There are also LOADS of new CHA products coming soon!  So make sure you stop on over and fill up your cart!  I cannot wait for my order to arrive that I placed earlier this week to start playing!!!!!!!!

I hope I have inspired you today!

The Story Of Today

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

Hi everyone, Debbie here with you today to share I layout I created using the January Love Is In The Air kit along with the Clean Fun option.

I love the colors in this months kit along with the kraft elements of the Maya Road tags and linen heart.   I love to cluster on my layouts and this months kit is packed with so many different bit and pieces.

I decided to change up the pink Petaloo flowers in the kit and used a Blood Orange Gelato to brighten them and tucked them beneath the white flowers.  You can find the Blood Orange Gelato in the store as part of the Faber Castell 50s Diner 4 pack.

I wanted to add some stamping to my layout and used the Blood Orange Gelato and colored over the stamp and then spritzed it with some water and stamped away.  Love the result:

I hope I have inspired you with my layout today.
We still have a few kits left in the store.  You can check out the kit contents and place an order here.

Cousins Love with Cathi!

Tuesday, January 28, 2014

Cathi here with another layout to share for the Frosted Designs January Kit!  I still have lots of paper and embellies left from my Love is in the Air January Kit, though I have used up all my flowers!!! This is a real departure for me, no flowers, very modern layout, but I love how it turned out!!!

Lots and lots of layers and texture for this layout, but no flowers, shocking for me I know! This layout uses TONS of Your Are My Happy papers, embellies and stickers from the Love is in the Air main kit! I added the corrugated paper, drywall grid tape and twine from my stash, as well as Maya Road Say Cheese Metal Vintage Trinkets and Kraft Journalling Spot. I had to add a little gesso to the corrugated board, it is hard for me not to, lol!!

I just love this photo of Aine and her cousins, they don't get together very often as the boys live in Portugal with Dave's brother and wife, but they get along great! I just wish my youngest didn't hide from cameras or cry on sight of them, I really do miss having her as part of the photos!!

I hope you enjoy having a look at this layout and if you are interested in getting the Love is in the Air kit, run over and check it out!! The "clean" option of the kit is SOLD OUT, but if you love sprays and masks, a few of the "messy" version of the kit are still in stock, but they are going fast, so hurry and get it while you can!!
