Show Me Sunday by Lori M.!

Being a "Frugal Scrapper", I am happy to share one of my frugal ideas for adding dimension to scrapbooking projects or cards.

I have to say my most used crafting tool has to be my Big Shot.  After all these years (probably 10 or more), I still love the way I can add dimension to my projects by using my Big Shot, die cuts, and some frugal scraps of corregated cardboard to add just the right touch of dimension to my project.  I also love the fact that the cardboard is light weight and "squishy" which, when used to make cards, makes them easy to mail.

I start with a piece of scrapbooking paper and a piece of corregated cardboard.

Then I run the paper through my Xyron.  This is another one of those tools I've had for years, but still use on a regular basis.

Since my paper has a lined pattern, I like to make sure I apply the paper over the cardboard so it's straight.

Next, I run it through the Big Shot with one of my die cuts.  In this case I'm making a picket fence.

I love the fact that with the picket fence, I also have some cute little rectangles I can use on another project.

As a bonus, I'm going to show you another frugal idea as I will be adding it to my final project.  I also took a piece of fabric, ran it through my Xyron, and adhered it to a piece of scrap cardstock.  Then I fussy cut the image I want to use on my card.
After added a few more details, I completed a card for this project.  Since the picket fence is raised up, I used some pop dots on the back of the girl so I could apply the girl to partly cover the picket fence.  Simply BEAUTIFUL, right?
Here is the inside of the card.  As you will see, I cut another picket fence without the cardboard backing.  You can really notice the difference from the front of the card to the inside.  The dimension on the front of the card is really cool!

I hope you have enjoyed this frugal tutorial.  Feel free to visit my blog at frugalscrapper.blogspot.com for many other frugal crafting ideas.

Thank you so much for sharing this technique, I have some material I'd love to give some dimension to and this could be the answer. The card looks so beautiful. I'm going to hop over to your blog and see if I can learn something else.
