Sketch Along Tuesdays May 31st Sketch #16 Challenge

Tuesday, May 31, 2011

Now that the Memorial Day weekend has come and gone, it's back to crafting time!  We hope that everyone enjoyed the long weekend and enjoyed beautiful weather!

We have a new sketch reveal for you today and a wonderful sketch designed by Debbie Burns:

We would like to welcome two guest designers for this challenge . . .
Kelly and Erin!

Hi, our names are Kelly and Erin and we're two sisters who share a love of scrapbooking! We spend most days on the phone with eachother discussing the hobby and sharing ideas. We are both fairly new to scrapbooking, and are learning fast! We  grew up in northeastern Minnesota and have both returned to where we came from after moving around a few times to settle down and raise our families. We share a blog, which is still pretty rough as it is a new thing for us, where we both share our creations. You can visit us at http://scrappin-sisters.blogspot.com.
Erin is a stay at home mom to two boys, Wyatt (3 1/2) and Gunner (10 months), and soon to be a mom to a baby girl September 1st! She and her husband Josh live in a little cabin in the woods and enjoy outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and four wheeling. Erin first tried scrapbooking when pregnant with Wyatt but then put it aside until picking it back up again when Gunner was born less than a year ago. It's now her number one passion and uses the kids' naptime as her scrap time!
Kelly is a working mother of Lilah (11 months) who began scrapbooking in August of 2010, shortly after Lilah was born. It was something she'd been wanting to try for years and finally decided to start, and now she's hooked! She also loves making her own embellishments, especially handmade flowers! She finds time to scrapbook between working full time and chasing Lilah. Her other hobbies include cooking/baking, reading, and shopping (when she can find time!)
We both love the fun sketches and challenges offered here at Frosted Designs! There's always something new to test our abilities and allow us to grow in this addicting hobby. We are definitely honored to be invited as guest designers. Thanks Frosted Designs!

And now for the Design Team projects . . .

SHOW ME SUNDAY BY: Kissinia

Sunday, May 29, 2011

HI!

I would like to share my method of making pages for notepads. For some reason I began to make more and more of them. And if the cover is a subject of author's own fantasy and preferences, the notepad still needs some pages, doesn't it?

You need regular office paper, A4 (or any other suitable format) white primer and, distress ink or some strong coffee or tea.

Here is a link to my blog. Kissinia

First, I fold the paper, so printed text (if any) is inside.

Second, I cover good part of each page with white primer, leaving edges untouched.

Then I stitch all the way around the page.

And, finally, decorate it. Here everything is up to you. You may use distress ink or strong tea or coffee to create a worn look. In fact you may also want to try to use acrylic paints. Then - decorate it according the style of your note-pad. When the pages are completely dry, I out then under the press, so at the end they all look pretty much good.

Here, are some ready pages to illustrate this tutorial.

Primer, tea, black ink.

Primer, distress inks, stamps, watercolours.

Primer, acrylic paint, black ink.

Hope you find this tutorial helpful and it will inspire you to make your own pages for the notebooks.

Fabulous Friday Challenge!

Friday, May 27, 2011

We are so glad to see you here today! Our design team is really excited to share some new, fresh ideas with you! With school winding down for the year and kids playing outside, we are starting to think about summer! This week is National Backyard Games Week and to honor that, we are challenging you to make a card, layout or project using a BBQ, Picnic or Outdoor Games theme!

We would like to welcome this week's guest designer..... Toree!!

Hello! I am Toree Vela and I am thrilled to be this week's guest designer here at Frosted Designs. I'm home grown here in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. I've been scrapbooking for over 8 years and can't get enough of it. Lately, I've been through several changes with my family and career. Scrapping is the one thing that is keeping me from going crazy! I don't have any children, so my 7 nieces and nephews make regular appearances on my pages. My little chihuahua, Rufio, is also featured frequently. The two that get scrapped the most are my wonderful boyfriend, Thomas, and I. Scrapping has been a wonderful way to express my feelings and create images that go beyond the pictures. I feel it is important to scrap my own stories, including pictures of myself. I'm interested in learning new techniques and being inspired by the wonderful crafters around me. I love to host challenges on my blog, nightsmile's Pretty Pages and participate in challenges as well. Happy scrapping everyone!

You can visit Toree's blog by clicking HERE!

And now for the Design Team Projects......
